taking into consideration the amount of publicity you get by being on steam, $100 to be seen by millions of gamers seems like a advertisment dream

and all the money is going to a kids charity so even better

Pft, I get to bleed every time I go into service, although I can't donate due to the fear of Mad Cow Disease.
Good though that you do ;)

The world runs on money, believe it or not.

Well, you don't have to always donate money, volunteer work is always highly appreciated.

After watching some of the terrible submissions role in, I can understand this.

$100 submission fee for getting your game publicized on a now even smaller list of games on the biggest digital download service would be worth the admission I would think. Especially, since its going to charity and if you are an American at least you can write it off on your taxes.

Its also understandable considering the massive amount of plagiarized games that were direct rip offs or "games" that had only 1 screenshot with no graphics just text and a description. Yeah lots of things that didn't deserve to be on it yet. I got on greenlight to rate games not concepts so this is fine with me.

Minecraft was on Greenlight? God what were the Minecraft fans thinking... Oh wait a large amount of the MC community is insane so I guess I should have seen that one coming.

True. And with this Fee all the stupid trolling things will be gone and games which people didn't make themselves wont appear on greenlight. Should save a lot of trouble. However greenlight has one problem. WHY A DOWN VOTE BUTTON? That doesnt make sense. If 1 million people want the game and 1 million don't want it, does that mean the game has no right to pass? Even though 1 million people want the game and are willing to buy it? No ofc not. Valve made a pretty stupid choice there. A downvote button doesn't matter. I don't like FPS games so does that mean I can go around downvoting every FPS game on greenlight just because I dont like FPS? Well according to valve. Yeah sure go ahead...
