Hello :)

There has been few very good tutorials and quids that have encouraged me to try some simple modding myself for the first time in ma life :D And it has been fun and by trial and error I might have even learned something. Thank you very much for help :D :D

But I haven't figured out how to make new weapons, new armor etc. I know how to change attributes from old weapons but how it is possible to make new weapon models/paint/design?? How can I make big new sword? Maybe try to make light saber? How to make small ritual dagger???

How to make 3D models for Kenshi? Do I need to download software???

I would love to see some kind of tutorial for something easy and after that try myself but every kind of help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance :D :D

PS. If I said something really stupid there, please don't laugh... I'm just n00b in this stuff

Im not a pro at it but i can help with a couple of things, to make a 3d model you can use 3ds max, blender or maya if ur feeling lucky, just google those and u will find some tutorial for each.
This one shows how to add new weapons http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... f=11&t=966 using the forgoten ck , i warn you , despite being a easy process, modelling takes up time and concentration and if u know how to draw or paint in real life it helps a lot, unless ur only gonna make geometrical/non organic stuff. Hope it helps.

I had lessons in 3ds max for a year in high school. If you're not good at visualizing and drawing you only need to construct your model in layers. Start with a simple and ugly representation of a sword and then make it more and more complex. If you remember that it doesn't need to look good while you're in the middle of making the first steps of the model it won't be a problem :)

Yes, you do. It is difficult right now, but more resources will be available later. Here is something else that might help you, Torchlight is very similar to Kenshi. If you understand this process, then you will be ready later.

For a simple tutorial for Kenshi, check out the Ronin tutorial. You are welcome to pm me as well for specific questions.

Thanks for all the help. :D :D
I'm glad there are still kind souls in this cruel world.

I've got Blender now and I'm trying to figure out how to do anything with it. There are manuals in it. I'll see if there's anything to help.

I have read pretty much every modding tutorial from forums I think and tested few of them and I'm definitely gonna check them whenever I'm stuck. Thanks for the Ronin faction mod especially. It was so good that it made me to try modding in first place :D Shame that nate9090 hasn't been active since that.

That seems pretty hard  I'm gonna follow it more closely once I have tried some easier stuff and gotten little hang off this all. (Or is this as easy as it gets? :? )

I believe handling weapons is easier so I'm gonna start with training with the old weapons. ;) (As soon as I figure out how to do it  )

I am working on trying to add/edi meshes on the game right now, but im having some probles with the plugin i downloaded for blender to edit meshes, i am downloading 3ds max and i'll start working on it as soon as i can, but im guessing that if you go in the forgoten cs and clone a existing weapon/armor, and change its mesh, texture and sheated mesh files, your gonna have a new sword added to the game, all you have to do then is to adjust its size and speed and ta-da you got yourself a nice *insert your idea name here* the problem is the bloody meshes file, ogre engine is a pain in the ass to get working.

After a trillion hours of research, I finally started learning how things work, I used to do mods for skyrim and I used blender and 3ds max alot, although, doing a bit of research for this game, I found out that the .mesh file comes from something called "Ogre 3D" which from that point, things gets a bit less complicated to understand, I can't show you or give you tutorials, but I will however, help you in the process of understanding all of this and hopefully i'm not too late, either way, assuming I am or not, i'll share my findings

Possible programs/ways to make meshes (custom models) for kenshi:

1.Blender 2.49b (Make sure you have python 2.6.6 or 2.6.4 installed as the Ogre3D exporter AND importer requires it *note that blender might be the only program that accepts imported .mesh files so if you want to import vanilla files from kenshi, then this program is for you)
2.milkshape 3D (I use 1.7.10 *note that this is a payed program but probably the best tool for making low polygon meshes which is perfect for a game like kenshi, it also has an addon that allows you to EXPORT any models you made as .mesh, sadly you cannot import .mesh files)
3.3DS max (I use 2012 STUDENT version)
4.Maya (Honestly, I never layed my hands on maya)
5.Ogre Command-line Tools (using version 1.7.2 *this is also important as you will need to convert the vanilla meshes from kenshi to .xml)

if you have one of those programs, you might find yourself going back and fourth exporting/importing the meshes on one program to another, but before you do anything, get these tools/addons and apply them on one of those programs I listed above:

http://www.ogre3d.org/download/tools

this is an example of a vanilla .mesh file I got working, played around with it by adding different shapes and such.

I might have had the same issue, make sure you have the correct version for blender and python in order for the addons to work properly

that being said

blender does not import .mesh files if it isn't in xml format, atleast in my case, you will need something called an ogre command-line tool, which converts .mesh files into mesh.xml, then from that point onwards you can import the meshes without a problem.
