Robotics will be for replacing lost limbs. Limb loss will be a very rare occurence unless you are totally outclassed by a powerful enemy, or up against cannibals or creatures that like harvesting limbs. This is all for much later on though.

I'm gonna get my limbs cut off on purpose just to get robot-limbs. Elbow blades here I come! :D

Will the robotic limbs function as well as your regular limbs? Will there need to be maintenance?

I hope/expect you can get different quality of robotic prostheses depending on the skill of the doctor and the amount of money you're prepared to spend on the limb. On one side you'd have the low-level basic limbs, with very limited functionality (say, enough to hold a spoon, but not agile enough to wield a sword) whilst on the other hand there are extremely expensive and rare "augmentations" that function better than the standard human bodyparts.

As for maintenance, I'd expect it to follow the price/quality line, ie: Cheap (probably not that cheap, but still) limbs that get jammed by grains of sand etc., whereas the top-of-the-line stuff is sand/water/electricity-proof.

Or if there are only very limited robotic limbs, I'll try to mod some better ones in :P

Woe to be in a desert wasteland. I shall be slinging sand/water at any robotic limbs that I see.

Yes, I can just imagine my character loosing his arm and most of his wealth in battle and then trying to buy a robot arm with what little gold he has.(Probably my luck)

Doctor: yeah your arm is cut off, but don't worry we can give you a new robotic arm.

Me: MY entire army was defeated and my town Lies in ashes....what type of robotic implant can I get for 10 gold?

Doctor: For 10 gold you would only be able to buy our very modest economy model.

Me: Which is...?

Doctor: This twig.

Me: A twig ???

Doctor: yes, and you would also need to water it from time to time.

Me: So exactly what can I do with a twig arm?

Doctor: well... you can hang a little white flag on it so maybe the next invading army will take pity on you, or you can try sharpening a point on it.

HILARIOUS!

I think robotics should be fleshed out a bit more than that. It seems like the kind of capabilities that would allow you to produce robot arms should allow you to produce other things as well. Automobiles, guns to a limited extent, as well as general manufacturing capabilities. There's a lot that can be done with that.

Perhaps we should add the ability for the player to make weapons as well? Might be interesting to be an arms dealer, or at the very least, to arm my men myself so I don't have to spend quite as much. But that probably means a large building+lots of machinery+the ire of current arms manufacturers.

Here's another idea: a robotic arm needs energy. We'll assume this is taken care of during maintenance of the arm. However, why not add an energy requirement to some of the building and the capability to use sun and wind power? This would add a new tactical element to when we get to big conflicts, where you could take out an enemies power source before taking them on. Especially if we add awesome stuff that really eats energy, like say, a turret, or some sort of radar device that detects people (maybe something that reads heat signatures since radar doesn't make sense to me)?

Another advertising bot/spam/asshole! Is there any way to block them? A way that would be better than just banning them after they come to irritate us.

Mods, I would appreciate banning this "shahalam" thing, please.

An actual Captcha when registering would help. So far the current one is rather lacking, as it can block all the really basic ones, but nothing more than that.

Mods can help, but it would be more of a constantly flaking patch without an actual Captcha.

Damn, missed the banishment. What was this spambot trying to sell this time, bean plants?

You should add something like a red X to your signature for every ban.
