I would love to be able to set a point, either in a town or in my own house/main building, as a "home point". Then some button on the interface somewhere similar to the medic button or something that I can click to give the order for my guys to return back to that home point and wait there for orders.

I could use this if I am out in the desert and lost because of the thoroughly average map currently being used, or if I am in a town and want to return to my base without having to manually click every hundred metres for a route I travel often or, most importantly, as some sort of "RUN AWAY" button to try and get my guys to safety (at the risk of bringing the entire army back to my home base by mistake.)

+1

I've been using a new recruit as a sort of beacon.
Build a cage and put your new guy inside. Now when you are all over the map, select your guys and make them follow the new guy. He's called "OUTPOST".

It's like a 5700cats waypoint, but it's useful for now

You can do the same for villages, recruit a new guy, name him after the village, tell him to stay so he doesn't go after bad guys and that will only cost around 700cats. Haven't done that one yet but it should be pretty straightforward.

PS: This may not work if you have big teams. I have 12 man (beacons not withstanding), since i like to divide my group evenly (1x12, 2x6, 3x4, 4x3 and my favorite: 6 groups of 1 master and 1 apprentice) so I have plenty of new recruits to go around being used as beacon (i have 4 of them for the time being).

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Oh god, that is an awesome idea leet. I think i might start using that to releive some of the tedium of dragging bricks back and forth. We have our own little fast travel starting to develop already without chris' input.

That's one of the fun parts about beta right
the techniques we invent ( leet beacon™ ftw) and the emergent gameplay (which was never planned by the dev)

It has a few flows if i remember well, i think you have to "loot" or "set free" instead of follow. And after a quickload sometimes the beacon is outside the cage (i guess it's cause he's supposed to be a member of your gang lol) which means that the bad guys will go after him if they come near him, maybe.
But since i tend to have long game sessions, it's not really a problem for me :)
and it certainly beats the constant 100metres clicking in fast (but not so fast imo) >>>> travel
