Inspired by the movie Steel Dawn?

I was just wondering if this game was inspired by the cheesy, but fun 80s scifi movie Steel Dawn. If you are a fan of Kenshi, Patrick Swayze, 80's scifi and you haven't seen this diamond in the rough; you should go out and rent it now. The worlds are pretty similar.

The setting looks quite similar, except for the weapons/clothing/tech styles.
I'll have to get around to watching that.
