Hi guys!

Im back with another idea and this time i give credit to Hvizeu for his ''Sandboats and Steampackers'' idea that gave me an idea.

Since Kenshi's universe i centred on the desert and,for the moment, its pretty mutch empty and there is not much happening we could add a wind effect!(and some sandstorm would be nice too :D )

The wind would change (direction, level) after a certain amount of time.I can see alot of good feature that
can be made with this. For exemple:When the wind is in your back, you travel a little bit more faster however when you are facing it you get slowed.Combat can also be touch by the wind,When someone is facing the wind (or a sandstorm) he would be having a hard time to fight because of the sand in the eyes.

I think it would add alot to the game and open alot of opportunity!

Thanks for reading and sorry for my bad english ^^'

That's just impractical, sorry. That's like... That would be so hard to code in and just... that sounds like a lot of work just for one feature that would most likely go unnoticed. However, I think the sandstorm idea is awesome. If you're in the sandstorm, everyone could have reduced accuracy when fighting and it would be hard for you (the actual player) to see as well or something. I dunno. I like the aesthetics alone; it doesn't even need to have an effect. But the battle effect and run speed effect just sounds far too difficult to implement at this stage. Try this again when the game's been released, or at least is further down the development cycle.

Just my 2 cents...

As for the wind sound effect, you need a sound engine, which Chris doesn't have yet, which is why there is no sound.

Agreed... It would be kinda annoying if they put in that minuscule wind stuff but I do like the sandstorm idea.

I dont think it would be that hard to code, just copey paste some scripts from some sailing games, use a lil logic and there you go :D

By the way, nice portrait neofall.

I dont think that the creator of the game would copy/paste other people code,it would be kinda, wierd.

And thanks,your avatar too ;)

thats why its code copying, ppl like me who does not know how to scrip do it all the time :D
you just have to translate the code you stole from one engine to another using a powerfull tool called tutorials (for the respective engines showing you the commands you want to translate).

I like the sandstorm idea

but in addition to the reduced view and accuracy I would also add a "damage over time" - effect to unprotected bodyparts

This is reffered to as plagiarism, and it is heavily enforced. Think of all the lawsuits between Apple and Samsung. Or the way that Microsoft had to stop selling Word for a while because it stole some code.

Yeah and specialized Stormhunters earn their living by looting these storms ! :)

No, seriously I thought more along the line of the sand peeling your skin of your bones.
But, after your comment I did a little research and they usually don't do this :/

I'd be inclined to say that sandstorms could be interesting, but shifting dunes would make for rather frustrating gameplay. Once additional biomes are implemented perhaps weather effects could be added, lending better results for farming in areas that get a fair amount of rain and the like. I'm unsure exactly how much work this would take though, when it comes down to it I'd say all of that falls under something that would be nice to have, rather than essential to compelling gameplay.

Maybe once they add biomes, each one could have its own disasters? Flooding and sever rain in heavily forested areas/swamps/bayous, sandstorms in the desert, tornadoes are too extreme, but lightning in the plains (Maybe Karma? Increase likelihood of making a game-god PO'ed?) some kind of large bear incursion in the forest, or... Maybe a bear in the tundra? Since I don't know what biomes there will be, I don't know what would be feasible, but in its current state sandstorms and Saguaro cactus would be nice, I think. Maybe Sarah Palin could jump out of a cabin and shoot you in a Alaska-like areas? (No offense intended to any of you who might like her.) I might like to see vicious wild animals too. Boar hunts might be fun, maybe some Mononoke-esque stuff. Hell, while we're at it, Totoro could jump out of the bushes.

I know that sandstorms don't do this, they're not that powerfull.

Also in a volcanic area I don't want a lava flow or something like that, I want the Eye of Sauron.
