When i play this game, i cant stop thinking of Frank Herberts Dune.
Beside the worms in that book (I would like them to be in the game as well, but that´s to much copy) one of the dangerous thing in the dessert is huge sandstorms, that will make everybody hide.
That would be realistic in Kenshi, since the dessert is so big, so the wind can be strong enough. And all the dunes that is made, must come from the wind.
It would make your traveling and living in parts of the map a bit more difficult.

Sandstorms would be cool, they should cause slight damage to anyone caught in them for an extended period of time.
They could also slow you down and make fighting more difficult it would be interesting to have a sandstorm break a siege on a city or bandits use the cover of the storm to siege a city.

This would be nice to have right now, but remember that the setting we're seeing is not intended to be the final setting of the game. Other types of environments (grasslands, etc.) have yet to be added but will eventually be made part of the game so such additions would no longer make sense once that point is reached.

No objection there, buddy! I'd love to see more environmental depth. Bsaed off the description of the weapon crafting station, which informs you that if placed outside it may suffer weather damage, lead me to believe that similar conditions will eventually be a part of the game.
In the latest news posts, he did make mentions to environmental changes that will be implemented in the near future (fuel requirements for generators, wind having direction and strength attributes, etc.)
There's always something to look forward to, and as always, it'll only get better with age.

Really? I was under the impression that this was post apocalypse. I kinda enjoyed the huge desert. Then again, it would be really nice to explore new environments. I just hope that the base i built in the valley between brink and that other trade town wont end up under water.
Chris did say that this current map is less than a quarter of his overall scope. There's going to be other biomes to explore in the future for certain. Can't say if the current desert biome will change or not. It'll only get better with age.philthymcnasty wrote:Really? I was under the impression that this was post apocalypse.
