I have not found much in the way of an official story for the game. Is there a background story for the game and the atmosphere? If there is, just say yes, but DO NOT elaborate any detail outside of the game. I would like to discover it for myself when the game is finished. IF there isn't a background story, then i would like to request one.

It can be really simple too. For example, one of my favorite games from back in the day was outpost 2. The game's entire story was essentially chapters of a novel that you got to read before each mission. this can be implemented in kenshi by simply scattering books in the desert. i would be perfectly happy exploring the desert for artifacts and books that would explain what happened. In fact, that would be a great background: Archeologist, where you start out with only digging tools and hints as to where lost relics of ancient mankind may be found. I would be happy even if those artifacts were only on or two paragraphs of story.

To quote myself: "There is currently no story, as the game's intent is to be free roam. But that's not to say there won't be chained quests, progression of the world setting, and npc/pc development. It's intended for AI factions to wage war and conquer eachother, and forming alliances, etc. So in a way of thinking, you will have story in how the world, cities, and factions change."

To my knowledge, and Chris or someone correct me if I'm wrong, there is no traditional 'story/plot' planned, but I'm certain we will have at least a more defined backstory of the world in the finished game.

and also: *fingers crossed* catgirls.

Ignore Blxz, he's talking about something that is rather... well, changing the subject...

Yeah, I like that of making my own story, seems like it giving me MUCH more freedom.

Indeed, don't ignore Blixz. he is an upstanding example of morality. He also made a valid point. The story is whatever you want it to be. You could say that the Holy Empire has been distributing bees to the populace for years because the bees contain drugs to make them more lucid and easy to control. But the Imperial Lords, the men who's armor look like *CENSORED* discovered the plot, and have started openly attacking the Holy Empire to try to free the people.

We can only hope.

(Side-note:) Blzx is the lead mediator between those of pie and bees! Without his guidance the two factions would be at each others throats.

Anyways, there really isn't a plot per se, however when you fist start the game you can choose your beginning. (And from that beginning your story begins)

If Kenshi had a main story, then crazy Vasili could not sell discount items at reasonable prices!

Well darn.

That means that there will be only one unfortunate outcome. I will have to assert my dominance in the desert and conquer it. Hopefully there will be a city capture mechanic. Otherwise, plan b, which will be to see how many buildings i can cover the desert with.

As said above, there is no plan for a main story quest line that you would follow like in other RPGs.

Even side quests will be less scripted than in other games, eg :
you hear that bandits are planning to attack a village, so you can try to protect the village, assault the bandits beforehand or even join them to steal all the delicious pies from the villagers or you can just watch from far away while drinking beer and come back later to scavenge.

Maybe Chris will add some lore that explains a few things about the world ...

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Need help? pm me or any other mod.
