So uh, I finished all the weapon crafting researches, and apparently the Weapon Crafting Bench II isn't good enough to make it?

And I don't have the choice to build a better bench. Seems kinda mean to show me that I can make a sword but my bench can never be good enough. :c

Or maybe I'm dumb and am doing something wrong.

Did you try looking on Kenshi wiki?

Build a Weaponcrafting Bench III.

Catan 04 isn't the end of weaponsmithing research btw.

Hi all,
I'm having a slightly similar issue.

I've researched everything possible... well everything that was shown to me in the list. There is nothing left to research.
I have the following built:
- Research Bench VI
- Weapon Smith Bench III
- Ore Mine VI
- Stone Mine IX
- Stone Refinery III
- Stone Processor V

Here is my problem... I cannot build a higher level Weapon Bench. It just simply isn't listed in my building options. So now I am unable to make any high end weapons like the Edge 5's and such.

Any ideas on this? I've gone through my Build tab and there isn't anything new listed.
Same with research, it is all blank now that I've researched it all.

Please advise...

Those higher tier weapons require Steel, however last time I checked as soon as you slot Steel into a workbench it will only use Steel. That's something of a known issue, but it's less onerous now that you can refine your own steel.

Ok, but is the Weapon Bench 3 the highest lvl bench available?
I'm already refining steel bars.

Yes, lvl 3 is the highest at the moment and it allows Edge 5 craft. Does your bench require steel?

The issue with the benches is something like it won't automatically tell your smith to pull Iron and use Steel, and doesn't have one slot for Iron and another for Steel. As such you have to manually make the switch the first time if you've been upgrading the same benches, and you won't be able to jam iron in after you've swapped over to Steel (apprently, even if you deconstruct the top tier benches and build low end benches again).

Yeah I was having this same issue. But last night when I loaded up my game, I was finally able to craft weapons again. Maybe me switching to .42.2 fixed it. Maybe I accidentally did what Clawdius suggested without even realizing it. Either way, I can finally go back to forcing all my men to use rediculously expensive clubs (or sticks, as I call them occasionally).

Ok it seems to be working now.
I had to remove the steel bars a few times and stop my other guys from automatically putting them in the bench before I initiated the crafting in the queue... odd, but it works now.

Thanks for the help.

What is the highest weapon damage obtainable through crafting? I have yet to mess around with it, was wondering how much better crafted are vs looted/store bought.

Well, so far most of the "homemade" weapons are about 5-10% better than their counterparts near as I can tell. I haven't looked super close, but my thought process is "make it if you can, it's cheaper anyway".

Also finding an edge 5 fragment ax is REALLY hard and REALLY expensive, but making one is easy if you have the tech...

If you mean their damage, as far as i noticed is the same, nothing changes, of course if you gona craft you cna get the materials cheap, on stores i havn t check (but i think they cheap too), but yeah, the weapons themselves EXPENSIVE, especially higher tiers (like one lotsofpaper).

And sorry if missundestood that part.
It s Hbrown!! Gotta get some pies!

I have also met with same grade weapons(eg Catan 04) from different manufacturers which are weaker than weapons made by your faction.

If you want to check almost best craftable weapons damage start the Holy Sword beginning and you will start with an Edge 1 Extended Katana which is second best craftable grade. Second only to Edge 5.

I've made a couple of Edge 5 Extended Katanas and I'm now working on some Edge 5 2h blades.
I've noticed a significant difference in their damage when in combat with baddies.
I went from one of those old junker Ninja Katanas with a base of 1.1 dmg to an Edge 5 and it is a very noticeable difference.
