My Weapon Smithing lvl 6 is currently -56 hours and counting....Zaik wrote:edit: previous content was entirely incorrect.
this bug was totally different from what I initially thought it was.
you have to do 2x the hours currently listed to complete any research. if it's 13 long, you have to go to -13 to complete. if it's 42 hours long(like level 6), you have to go to -42 to complete.
still technically decreased the overall time per research if you're researching faster than 2x, but still rather frustrating!
edit: wrong again, i'm at -44 hours on level 6, no clue what's going on anymore.
edit 11298749283675: it completed at -45.
Research BUG cant finish research
So overall what this whole thread is saying, research is taking longer than the visual number is telling you.
The green progress bar is a graphical representation according to the amount of time displayed whereas the number merely counts down how much time has passed.
The issue appears to lie within a different variable that is pointing elsewhere (possibly the Science fix?)

Indeed.
I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying.
My personal feeling on this particular issue is that the 'Science-fix' didn't actually 'fix' what was intended. For instance, the science skill now shows the training multiplier and the 'green' progress bar moves faster based on this multiplier but the successful completion takes the same amount of time as it did -before- the science-fix. Hence my 2.9x multiplier and progress bar mean nothingPnzrNorm wrote:So overall what this whole thread is saying, research is taking longer than the visual number is telling you.

I just read through this entire forum, tried everything that was suggested, nothing worked for me. I can't get past the 2nd tier research myself, for example I re-loaded the game several times and tried to put only one 2nd tier research to be worked on like wells II and that will not get finished. Is it ok to assume that we have to wait for the next update for this to be fixed?
I just found what seems to be a new bug. Research will not progress unless I keep the researcher and research table in view at all times. I am not sure if this persists with other buildings yet as I have not worked with other buildings so far. Will post an edit once I find out

You just have to let to research reach like -100 hours. Just wait, it will finish. I researched everything and I have this bug and everything completed but it took 500 times longer. You just gotta be patient and hope it finishes on -10 hours and not -100.

There's another... perhaps not exactly a bug, but serious issue with research. Namely, you can simply have a research bench of any level, and several researchers on Research Bench MK I since those don't take any power to function. Then you'll be able to research the next level, scrap or upgrade you're unused electricity hogging bench and continue to have several researchers working on the tiny MK I instead of having to build buildings specific to the larger benches if you want to have several researchers working at once.
While it wouldn't be a great idea to make having a skilled researcher on a MK I useless compared to a researcher without much skill, there either needs to be a cap on what you can produce on lower tier benches, or else there needs to be a multiplier on what you can produce on the higher tier benches. Or, perhaps only benches that are MK __ can contribute to projects that unlock at the appropriate tier. Otherwise, other than building one, there is no reason to use the top tier bench since the MK I doesn't require any electricity.
Furthermore, as it stands, I see no reason you could not simply buy a nice house in a city, build several MK I benches there, leave a couple researchers behind and go outside the town and build a saloon that you'll really never use and stick the latest bench you can produce in there, stopping in only to upgrade. Then the town guards will defend your researchers while you gallivant about trading and killing people, until you can produce the Outpost MK IV and a bunch of automated mines and processors.

I think maybe the lower tier benches should research exponentially slower with higher tier research. Like a research bench 1 would research 50% slower for Mk 2 stuff, 25% mk 3, etc. so unless you want to finish your research this century you have to upgrade. But it doesn't make the lower tier benches useless. Just inefficient.

Merged topics, it's a known issue.
i think its caused by the research speed multiplier...if you have more guys working with eff higher than 1 the research will take longer instead of shorter time because instead of dividing the multiplier really multiplies the time needed to finish
in fact if you use only one bench with less skilled worker it actually seems to take less time....
