Maybe add different tricks you squad can use like an ambush you guys hide in the sand and jump out and charge the enemy things like that
And also to go with ambushes people have a surprise meter thingy like if less warning they had the longer it takes them to start to defend and attack
Also we should be able to attack people in beds
Combat stragies and surprise effects

I dont know so much about "hiding in the sand" but tactics and strategies are a confirmed feature already.
just search "tactics" next time so you can add to those topics. http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/search.php?fid[]=16

If your within a few feet that would certainly be true. I there is some stat that makes it seem like you can assassinate people so perhaps that would be added to that.
However if an army is ambushing another army, it takes time for them to move over and attack.
In my personal experience a person can attack leap about 3-4 time the leangh of the blade they hold, This would add the the supp\rise factor alot but you still need to get into range.
The time it takes for a person to take thre blade out i could probably kill them if i was within 6-7 meters. Otherwise they would have there blade out and be able to parry my leap (witch is bad for me)
so if you can get into that gap you can certainly kill them without resistance, or atleast kill the first couple.

This was pretty much my exact logic when I created this feature request: Changing Equipment Should Not be Instant. The whole surprise effect thing could easily be fixed by making it so there's an animation for readying your weapon and/or equipping a new weapon.Mafearaak wrote:I still think there should be surprise effects on people because if you are ambushed your sword won't be out so that there is an advantage in surprise
Thanks for bumping...maybe with time needed to draw weapons you could also put status effect on ambushed people like reducing their atk/def skills to simulate their unprepared state of mind against an ambush. This is easier for coding and also put chance that you could duplicate similar status effect like using smoke bombs or poison/chem or traps.
Even better if you have done many great feats like killing thousands of enemy or impaling people, opponent might have a "terrrified" status effect by seing you or within the effect radius of your equips like banners or musical instruments.
Also by allowing units to have drawn/undrawn weapon status could also have effect in city or when meeting someone during travels. You could easily start a fight with neutral faction if you approach them with weapons drawn. They might put out text bubble to warn you to put away your weapons before starting any conversation.
Edit: Just like to add a scenario...imagine that you've poisoned a water hole. Hide in the ground or something and wait for an army or trade caravan to pass and resupply.Wait for the drinking animation and within several minutes they started to get unwell from poison. Then in the dark of the night you come out and ambush them. So now they are burdened with poisoned, attacked in the dark, and ambushed statuses and if you are carrying a flag/banner as being a feared faction you could add terrified/awed into the equation...I think there could even be a scenario where a whole army would surrender without barely fighting by having too many negative status effects.
