A nice option for the bounty system would be the ability to behead a bounty if you've accidentally killed it. This will allow you to turn the bounty in more easily since a corpse obviously weighs more than a head, but, of course, you'll only get half the bounty due to the guy being dead. If that's too much, the bounty obtained could also just be a fourth of what it's originally supposed to be. The basic idea of this system would be "Oh hey, I accidentally killed him. Well, he's not worth lugging to the station anymore, but maybe I could just carry his head around and turn him in whenever."
...Aaand I just realized how morbid that sounds.
Beheading Bounties
That only really works if you're going after named bounties whose faces are known. What if, for example, you had a standing bounty for any higher rank people in some sort of bandit group? What you'd need then isn't his head (unless the rank was denoted with facial tattoos) but rather an insignia and maybe a body to prove you actually killed him. Otherwise you'd get accused of just bringing in random people or just passing on insignias you stole.

aye well said, its not always their head people are renown for.
I think on this we could have certain minor details that depict certain things. When a person joins a factions they get "branded" by that factions Brand. It might be permanent or removable depending on the factions choice ofcourse. and on that note i say no more as i will post in a new or relevant topic
