I think the dead bodies are disappearing way too fast. There has been few cases where I have beaten up a random bandit group, and failed to loot all of them because some of them had already disappeared.

At the moment, corpses vanish in just few hours after beating them. I think it should take maybe 48-72 gamehours. It used to be very cool when your group was wandering in the middle of nowhere and happened to run into traces of big fight and there was corpses everywhere. Now it doesn't happen since they go away too fast.

Sometimes I see a big fight in the distance and think of letting them kill each other and then come and loot everything left behind. Problem is that when I get where the fight took place, it's all gone already!

Body disappearance has some bugs in it too. Some of the guys who are only passed out tend to disappear too. I have beaten a group of dust bandits and healed them all. Then I start looting them and just when I'm going for the last one, he just vanishes without a warning. And I'm sure I healed him fully as well.

What do you think? Is it too fast or is it just me?

Otherwise all the new features work well and everything is great. :) I didn't even remember how much fun the game is. I got (once again) hooked pretty bad yesterday and played for 11 hours! I'm not kidding. It was interesting day

I have yet to see an alive but unconscious guy disappear however, I have seen unconscious guys die for no reason even when healed. It seems to me that when an npc is unconscious for a certain amount of time he dies regardless of what his health bars are at, I assume this was to help the fact that npcs wouldn't ever die unless hit with massive damage during the fight. While I actually like that npcs will die from random battles now, it does need to take longer.

Also it needs to be applied to players , because it is just wrong that they die in a matter of hours and I can lay there for days.

I think that this element of the game (that is persistence with Health and Death etc.) Has become a little troublesome in how it works, mainly due to the above things you've mentioned. I hope that Chris decides to change this and either let NPC's die/disappear after a few in-game days, rather than after a few hours - especially if they are not technically dead.

Either that, or the Player needs to die as quickly as the NPC's do. Hopefully it'll be fixed in a not so distant future.

Also agree with this one, they should take longer to disappear(and unconscious one stay lol), but as well to die, or like Fuzz said, we faster to die.

And i take chance to ask something i didn t saw around nor mention, had someone had people randomly dying? Lot of times i had bandits laying oon the ground, they had negative chest, head and/or stomach, however at low states, and died, just because someone was around, even once when i was healing he died. Dunno if it persists as i haven t played in a while after updates.

When bleeding gets the blood to -75
This is when everything can die.
If you leave the fastest game speed running while looting, then the bleeding will be faster.
You might not be able to loot everyone before they bleed out into the sand.

To my knowledge there is not any other way that an NPC can die.
If you heal the bleeding before this, then the npc will not die.

I have had experiences where i knocked an NPC out, healed his bleeding and left him, without healing any of his broken parts.
He is still laying there in the sand to this day, because he cannot get up with all his broken bits.

Im not sure if he is a random bug i managed to cause, or if -75 blood is the true death.
But either way i always look up on that hill where he is to check, and yep its been a few RL days now, and hes still there.

But yes i do agree, that the decay is twice as fast as i would like it.

Seen too that -75 is the true death, but i seen NPCS die with not even that low, even on blood, simply around -10/20s and died simply because i didn t go away, they would look that they died of fear  , because i was around or so, as when i left they would go up, but if i didn t they died.

Yes add time, most of the time I'm using medkits to keep my men from falling under the 0 blood or the -75 blood and dieing. Then when i have everyone patched up i can start looting which i end up losing one or two of the bodies to loot. And if i get attacked during the looting i can say good by to the loot on the first group.

Sometimes we fight enemies with allies like the police and the annoying thing is when we won but all of my units have fainted so while waiting for them to wake up, not only to see that bandit worth thousands in bounty bled to death but also all those bodies with precious equips to disappear like that over a short duration...especially after a really HUGE battle with dozens of the dead lying around...

I'd like to second this as well.

Can we see a flag applied to corpses within X range of player squad that adds about two - five minutes to the despawn time?

I'm loving the foilage and the new optimizations, but this one I think there's a bit of wiggle room for. at least on my box. I'm running an I5 quad with eight gig ram though.

It's painful watching all of that loot go bye-bye, and In my case it's just because I use a designated looter who loots and heals one at a time. I'm not even talking about being knocked out.

maybe this could be a toggable option for us with higher spec computers. I gotta make use of my 16gb ram somehow :).

Decay rate seems to be fast enough that I rarely can loot more than 6-8 guys without loosing the last ones. This is bad considering that I do looting in slow speed and Pause every time I open the loot window.
This has turned out a bit tragically for me when joining at 3 way battle on an friendly faction's side. (Bandits, Ninjas and Holy...much fun) Trying to patch guys up then loot is a bit frantic even with pause.

Perhaps the more bodies in a small area, the slightly longer each one lasts?
Maybe they could adjust decay timers based on the Value of the fallen? An unconscious bandit boss with a $2300 bounty lasts longer than a hungry bandit with $40 worth of gear on him. Bounty + gear value (when knocked down) would be a nice factoring system. :D

I actually tracked the forums down again today to look this up, I had a couple bodies decay last night while I was still fighting. Would not have been such an issue but one of the bodies had a very nice looking helmet that I really wanted
I would appreciate if corpse decay was set to a toggle of some sort maybe: short, medium, long or something. I have a pretty hefty computer and it was doing just fine before they started decaying. On the other hand my laptop can have....er...stutters at times and I could definitely use the short in that instance.
Quite frustrating new edition though.

+1 vultures

Besides that, I think its an immersion and realism issue. I want to bask over the rotting corpses of my dead enemies.

Is there any kind of update on this? I've been having pretty annoying problems with bodies disappearing after looting only 5-6 bandits. This is with the most recent version, 0.50.3.
