In Europe, Santa does more than just visit secretly through the chimney. He actually meets the family, keeps kids on his lap, listens them sing, eats cookies and gives the presents in person. One really needs to be linguistically gifted for that. ;)

I think "keeps kids on his lap" has a slightly different meaning than what you intended...
