No there's not but I think we will have upgrades to walls and gates in just few updates. And probably it's not good since they are pretty bugged. Hope it will be fixed soon.

Ok, that's what I suspected.
Could you wall yourself in? Or will bandits attack the walls if there is no gate?
I don't have enough skilled fighters to split them between defending the outpost and going on trading expeditions. Makes me paranoid.

Do what I do. Build another walled area in front of your existing gate and put another gate there.
They will not bug you. There are bugs of course, like the gates opening themselves, but for the most part the roaming gangs won't bother you.
I think the AI sees the first gate and the area before the second gate as an empty area and therefore don't attack. If you leave the first gate open they will enter and attack the second gate, so take care when opening the gates.
This works for me

hey guys, is it just me or the enemies won't destroy your gate if they don't see you inside, in one of my games, i build a large outpost, the buildings are practically far from the walls, far enough for the enemy to just walk past it
i think the enemies only attack gates as they see it as obstruction between your people (their target) and them only if they saw your people,
i tried building 2 gates, like Gadzoo mentioned, but they'll keep coming if they saw my units from outside the wall..
so i build an extra large fort, with 2 walls, the inner walls and outer walls, the outer walls usually block the entrance to my area.. i build in the mountainous area between Traders Edge, Port South, and the trader outpost south of catan.. it's the valley between those three... i build the outer walls next to the entrance of the valley,
for the gates, i do hope that in the future it would be impossible for the bandits to destroy it without any equipment, let's say among 10 bandits that spawn, 1 is boss, 7 are bandit grunts, 2 are the engineer (like sapper that carry tools for breaching the gate)
since i find it weird for sword to be able to breach a thick gate...
unless they're using a ram

That's right. At this point of development, bandits don't randomly destroy or conquer empty outposts or buildings. They don't loot you either. If you want to avoid bandits destroying your gates just go outside.dzki wrote:i think the enemies only attack gates as they see it as obstruction between your people
And I think there will be siege weapons and defensive weapons in the future. But it still seems to be pretty far away though. There will also be a climbing skill which I think is used in climbing walls and such to secretly get inside outposts and maybe use stealth to assasinate all enemies from the inside. (Or your guys by the enemy if you don't watch out)
