*This is a mix of several other ideas but combined*
My idea is cities and towns are randomly built the towns smart off small and grow from trade and immigration. With this the player can influence this by trading with a specific town/faction allowing them to build and trade more. Faction armies would also depend on how big the faction's towns are allowing for small factions to possibly to destroyed and enslaved/executed.
How would the player influence this?
The Player could build paths in between cities or defending paths in between cities to promote travel between 2 cities or more. Placing your city in between 2 cities with a path linking them could help your town flourish by setting tolls you could also harm other faction's trade, Leading to war or the demise of a empire.
How would the towns grow?
Trading money and building more buildings would encourage more immigrants due to the increase of jobs with these new people the faction would have to build more structures. Immigrants would also be more likely to move to a nice climate than a cold/hot/wet/dry/etc. climate.
Problems?
Towns could be destroyed and the map could end up with 1 or 2 massive towns or just yours
Alot of coding and time involved
Not sure if possible with the ogre engine
Would need alot of other features to be implemented first
