I am seeing requests and suggestions of the forum that worry me. Right now I think the game is moving in a awesome direction. It seems though some players would have the game turn into something I would not be a fan of. I don't like the idea for giving the chars the need for free time or taking away the control that allows you to control them in a rpg fashion, it would mean you would have to lose the control that allows you to have the awesome fights. Instead you would have to put down flags or politely suggest "hey there are bad dudes over there".
I also don't like the ideas of ranged weapons I have seen. Guns that kill or devastate in one hit is not what I signed on for. I like that the battles can last a while they are fun to watch. This game gives you the ability to hand craft every character. If some noob bandit with a gun gets a lucky head shot and one of my 30 hour guys goes down i'm gonna be livid.
I just want to see the game as it is more flushed out. More squads, more map, better trading, better building, better diplomacy, better optimization, flushed out world, maybe mount/pack animals. Which they are doing so I don't have to worry about that.
Some players worry me.
Its very moddable, so if it ever takes off in a direction you hate, you can get together with like-minded folks and make a mod. Be easy to take out ranged weapons, the Clown faction, content stolen from the Sims, or whatever else has caused your lividity.
From what I've read the new (bigger) map is in the works.

they are only Feature requests.
something that others would like to see in their game. So yep you will see a lot of content that you might not like or agree with. and some that you might like.
reading the roadmap will help you figure out what will actually be added. and more or less a good idea of when it will be added.

Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Well, actually the only kind of ranged weapons I'd like to support are good ol' bows and crossbows, shuriken and whatnot. They fit into the setting and - with correct tweaking, won't take away the focus from melee combat.
What I'd love to see is the option to create your very own community (including populated towns with civilians and such) and wage war against anyone - IF you want to go down the route. You also may want to join another faction and work for them. The more options you have, the more you can play the game the way you want it. In my case, I definitely want some kind of complex squad/faction/relationship/community simulation embedded in a sandbox RPG. Doesn't mean you have to play it like that

Yes I have read the road map, and the developers of this game have been (from what I have seen) very attentive to the community. I have seen this in other development titles where things change when enough ask. I like the road map I like where the game is headed. I'm just worried influence may sway it to something else. As for creating a town with civis and the like once they add the ability to have more people you can do that. Everyone you recruit doesn't have to be a fighter as has already been demonstrated. I think the game is doing a great job and I am happy (desperately want more people but I know that's a long way off). I also agree that the ranged weapons should be of a limited nature to preserve the current dynamic of combat. I would be happy to get a bow or harpoon gun. Slow and not the most accurate and when they get close whip out your secondary.
Devs have done a great job and this is a game i have wanted (except not robots but who cares XD) and I like that its not a extreme sim where you lose control of you chars. I cant help but make up stories for each of my people and I hope they allow you to type in that box while generating so I can write down their backgrounds XD. Not livid yet but I know how I am and I hate losing people especially when I put a lot of work into em. Except you sand, you can die XD. Well with exception of epic deaths. I did once draw off a large group of cannibals with my one standing guy while my other 9 lay unconscious. They eventually caught him and ate him before I could even hope to mount a rescue.

One thing to keep in mind, is that that a lot of these requests are just unreasonable from a development standpoint. Some things will just take years of code, and therefore will not be implemented.
I realized this a while ago, and now i try to limit the suggestions to things that make sense. so far, the last suggestion i made was a "bandit raid frequency slider". However, i wonder if this is realistic, because diplomacy will affect this in the future IE: if you are at -50, dust bandits will just occasionally raid, but if you are at -100, they will SIEGE your outpost.that sort of thing.
But yeah, most of the new stuff is because there was a steam sale a few weeks ago, so people haven't figured out what the game is about yet.

I also remember reading something the mighty Chris wrote a long time ago. Something about him thinking that basically every other RPG game had done it wrong (which i agree with with a few exceptions), and that he want to make the game that he have envisioned.
Or some such.
It sounds like he have a good solid plan to go on. And it sounds like hes making a game that he himself would want to play.
Aanyways, i love it.
Best early access game i bought.

I have no country to fight for; my country is the earth; I am a citizen of the world.
I think its a freaking phenomena of astronomical proportions that someone is actually doing something they personally enjoy, while at the same time is something that will be amazing for many people both now and in the future.

Saying "better" isn't much of a suggestion. I mean, is a game developer supposed to look at that and think "Oh wait, these gamers want better game play? I was going to make it worse! Good thing I read the forums!"
Old Man Liver states: "Everything Old Man Liver says is a lie!". Is he telling the truth?
Yeah guns would beat the point or the fill of this game. Though I do not think crossbows are any better. A bow is ok though still it should be dumbed down so it is more like it used to be a good snipping weapon but not a kill all. As for the harpoon turrets I like the idea but I would want that more dumbed down as well. LIke it can not go through armor to slow of a round. That way it is more of a deturrent weapon then a self defiance weapon.
I would also like to have more interaction with the local towns. Instead of talking to the locals and get do not steal or get away. Maybe even a ability to offer them money to leave there current post and join you or to be able to hire the mercinaries to protect you until you get to your next location. To find city leaders and be able to talk to them for jobs or to find local standings or even news stands. I mean you do not know if the cannibals whipped out a city unless you come to it and find that it has been hit.
I read were later there will be animals in the game and pets. I do not know about mules and such by what I have seen the likly hood of you using it to carry goods is more likly to slow you down and make you an easier target but the blood hungry mongral in me says bring it on. Though attack dogs or something like that would be nice at my city gates would really help with those big hungry bandit mobs might not kill them but should hold them off enough to put them all down.

Chris has been, from the very start, making the game he has wanted to make. His vision won't be compromised just because a lot of people clamor for some particular feature. If there are suggestions on specific ways to go about things that interest him I'm sure that sort of thing is useful, but don't be concerned that a lot of people asking for guns would encourage him to add anything to the game that didn't fit with his design plans. That being said, the harpoon turret is indicative of the types of ranged weaponry that will be available in the game, and may be slightly more high tech than some people were looking for.
I've seen Chris talk in the past about the idea that we'll be able to create templates for squads, and then just queue up another "scout" or "heavy" squad for production, and our weapon smiths and armor smiths will get to work producing the appropriate gear and outfitting new recruits. This will make the later game conquest mode something more akin to a 4X game than the game is currently, allowing you to create a squad like you might create a ship in GalCiv. That sort of reduction in your personal investment in each individual will be necessary in the long run though, if the game is to allow you to focus on the bigger picture of empire management rather than having to micromanage every single gate guard in every city and outpost you create.
That being said, I don't imagine that Chris would remove your ability to manually alter the appearance and name of each individual recruit if that is your prerogative. Kenshi is largely about your ability to choose how you want to play the game, even if opening up the additional options for end-game territory means your options opening a bakery in every city in the world are fleshed out less than your options for conquering every city in the world. Just because the 4X options will likely present themselves in the future, doesn't mean you can't look at the game as eXplore eXpand eXploit eXtract-the-cats-from-NPCs-wallets. It would just mean that if you wanted to use your cats to build an empire and slaughter the foes of delicious breakfast pastry, that too would be an option.
