Heya,

After researching all the way to level 6 I was suprised that there was no upgrade available to the concrete walls currently in the game. This got me wondering: Is there a way to build the same walls that are used in the creation of Catan and similar cities?

After carefull examination of Catan I noticed it had stairs aswell, another thing currently not available in the build editor. Am I missing some hidden blueprints/mods to make these walls or is it planned to get implemented in another patch?

Thanks for the quick reply, Hatsune. Could you please share with us your knowledge on when you think these cool walls might be added? :)

Check out Chris's twitter account at:

There is a screenshot he uploaded of concept art for the walls that will be available in the future (they're even cooler than NPC town walls).

Alternatively, You could use the ingame editor to set the walls up. All the data for them is in the game, its just not active. Not sure if doing so will cause any instability or not though. But there are alot of building options in the editor that you would otherwise have no access to. Some things appear to build instantly, whilst others appear to require you to get the building materials and build them yourself.

using in game editor to place the larger walls does cause issues.
using the editor at all causes issues, so use with care.

I have had no issues at all with the editor. Though I haven't really used it for much, other than placing wells and farms in towns. Oh, and also power stations in the farming town of Fisher.

Might just be me but I haven't been able to find this build editor just yet. I purchased the game through Steam if that changes anything. The only 'build editor' I know of is the one that you have access to when building buildings in the game itself.

Is there supposed to be some kind of extra build editor that you guys speak off and how do you access it?

Hit ctrl-shift f12. That turns on the in-game editor. It's quite buggy though. Last time I used it, the loading times was massively increased such that the game was no longer playable, and I had to reinstall the whole game to fix it.

Alternatively, there's the forgotten construction set, which is available in your Kenshi game folder. That one is primarily intended for creating mods, but you can in theory use it to achieve the same purpose as the in-game editor. It is harder to use, but way less buggy.

Open up the Options -> Controls menu, and you will see the majority of commands available in Kenshi, as well as rebind them as you like.
The only things that I haven't seen in that menu are the ability to select whole stacks of items, that's Shift + LMB, and viewing the drop-down list of actions available by Holding RMB while hovering the mouse cursor over any character in the game (this latter one is the only way I've found to give characters the Medic job).

Be warned that in-game editor can be dangerous. Usually it results in the new structures, and any town near the structures becoming part of the game's map data, instead of just the savegame data. This means that a town you use the in-game editor in will likely then be in ALL of your games, even new ones, after that. To fix you have to delete the game's data folder (not the save folder) and then revalidate on steam.

For my personal horror story with this, be sure to check out Cannibals Took Over My Base (Now With More WTF).

Here's one for you, after opening the editor on my game I somehow managed to get the game to hang after clicking around in the interface. Closed the game afterwards through Windows taskmanager and every time I try to log back in on a saved game now the game freezes after only loading for the first two seconds.

So I suppose that warning you gave me was in order lol..

Edit: After deleting the kenshi 'data' folder and doing the steam thing called 'verify integrity of game chache' the issue was quickly resolved. I'll refrain from using the editor in the future for now. Thanks for the info!

Well, like I said I have had no issues with it. Nor have I had the structures I have placed with it result in being part of the game data. Guess I was just lucky. I'll see if I can set up a mod for you that enables the walls for use. Shouldn't be too difficult as all the data is already there.

I appreciate the effort but its alright, I have settled on building my outpost without walls now. If there ever will be a patch where the concept art walls are introduced i'll make it my goal to build the most wicked fortress.
