So I'm new at this Kenshi thing, and I seem to keep coming across a question here or there that I can't seem to find an answer for through searching. I thought I might as well make a thread for general questions about actually playing the game. A few that I can think of at the moment (and bear with me if they are stupid questions - I'm a newbie lol):
1) When you look at the character stats, why are some black and say nothing when hovered over? (Like endurance in physical attributes, blunt in weapon skills, and dodge or survival in skills?)
2) I'm finding that my game is starting to lag the more I play it. I quit it every hour or two to help with the memory leak. I've turned down the quality of the game quite a bit which has helped somewhat, but the game worked fine at first, and is getting slower each day... How often do other people exit the game? I don't understand how people get so far as their own town when my game lags this much (and crashes) - perhaps it's Vista crappin' out on me?
3) I've seen mention of fast-travel through the map? Does that exist in the game at this point?
4) What's the point of first and second weapons? Are they used by different arms?
5) Does anyone know if this game is ever intended to be multiplayer/online, or just a single player game?
I can't think of my other questions at the moment, but I can add them later... Thanks

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.... otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

1) The blacked out skills are skills that haven't been added into the game yet, but will eventually. I'm not sure about why they say nothing, could be that the names are fairly self explanatory.
2) It's most likely your system specs, I've never had the problems you've mentioned on any of my computers.
3) Fast travel does not exist at this point, it's been mentioned but their is no definite answer.
4) The first weapon slot which is the big one is the one you use for two handed weapons, if your arms become wounded to a certain point it will go limp and you won't be able to hold the two handed weapon properly. If you have a weapon in the second slot, the unit will switch to that instead.
5) It's been confirmed that it will stay single player only.

if its blacked out its usually because its not a added feature yet, so about half the skills and a couple stats have not been added to the game yet.all.mad.here wrote: 1) When you look at the character stats, why are some black and say nothing when hovered over? the more people you have and the larger and or more items you build, add more strain to the game resources. and since the game is not optimized very much this can "Lag" the game for many people. even if you have a super gaming rig. But i have noticed the older the machines and OS's the slower peoples game play seems to be. and the more reports we get of the game becoming unstable and unplayable or super crashy.all.mad.here wrote: 2) I'm finding that my game is starting to lag the more I play it. The next update thats coming out is said to greatly improve game play and speed., so wait for that and see how it impacts your game.
Not yet, but it is planned for and very much debated on if players want it in the game or not.all.mad.here wrote: 3) I've seen mention of fast-travel through the map? Does that exist in the game at this point?
first one is your primary weapon, and when your right arm is damaged to the point of being unusable, its planed to have the second weapon slot take over your attack and defence or when you're carrying someone.all.mad.here wrote: 4) What's the point of first and second weapons? Officially, it will never be a MP game.all.mad.here wrote: 5) Does anyone know if this game is ever intended to be multiplayer/online, or just a single player game?
one, the Dev does not want a MP Kenshi game.
two. the tools and modules he used to make the game make making Kenshi MP compatible is nearly impossible. I'm not a game programer so i can't go into detail why its impossible. I have read this from Chris in a very old post, saying it would be impossible.
Enjoy =(^.^)=all.mad.here wrote: I can't think of my other questions at the moment, but I can add them later... Thanks

Thanks for all the responses
Another question - in Steam when you go into Kenshi's properties, there is the option to either opt out of or update to beta(s). What exactly is it if you download the beta instead of opting out of all betas?
