buying and selling of slaves is a compromise by the Dev because the NPC can enslave you. this gives us the option to own slaves but not the option to enslave others. that wills till be the NPC's job.
the other part idk yet, as i haven't bought slaves yet.

If you talk to one of the Slavers in the slave shop they will give you the option to either buy or sell slaves. If you select buy then they will show you a screen that shows the slaves available in the shop for purchase. they will then become party members as usual.
If you want to sell someone they only give you the option to sell party members into slavery. I took some dust bandits into the shop and was not able to find an option for selling them. So I stuck them in a cage, but that didn't get me any money or make them available for purchase.
I think you drop them unconscious at the slavers feet they would probably shackle them and put them in the cages, but I have not tried that. And it would still not net you the option to make money off their sale.

Tried this for testing. They will immediately shackle and enslave enemies that are unconscious, but not friendly characters like police. Have not tried dropping an unconscious squad member, but I think they will enslave them as they would outside town. Dropping a conscious enemy will just result in them running for the exit. If they have weapons still, they may fight and get knocked out again.swillo wrote:I think you drop them unconscious at the slavers feet they would probably shackle them and put them in the cages, but I have not tried that. After you drop someone off, you do not get paid for them obviously. You can, however, purchase the newly acquired slaves. Good way to recruit strong squad mates like sand ninjas. To balance that out though, they are really expensive. 3000 for a normal sand ninja, and a whopping 10k for the jounin. Still, well worth the cost for a reliable combat squad mate. Just keep in mind, they have no other skills than combat usually, other than some minor bonus to medic skill.
EDIT: Actually, the cost for the jounin was for bailing him out with the police, now that I think about it. If you bail an enemy out of prison, they join you, but it seems to be double their bounty. Slave trader seems to charge a constant of 3000 for everything, yet I have not been able to find another jounin to test this out yet.

So i tried selling a jounin to a slaver in a town but then I couldn't buy him back. I can't even talk to them, though they will enslave any unconscious npc they see in front of them as you said. I also tried turning him in to the police and then bailing him out but didn't have this option either. What am I getting so horribly wrong?Bancheis wrote:

I have noticed that only one of the slavers in the shops will talk with you.
I have not seen a jounin yet so I can't try it out.
I did notice that when I took the shackles off my slave they became an escaped slave and were immediately attacked by the slavers. Seems even when you pay for them they still are considered to belong to the Slavers Guild.
And you can't just put the shackles back on once they are off. At that point it assumes you are just trying to disguise yourself as a slave. Not sure why you would do that, but who knows.

That was a bug in 70.2 I THINK it's fixed in 70.3?swillo wrote:I have noticed that only one of the slavers in the shops will talk with you.

I wish the slavers wouldn't come in and enslave everyone. I have had several of my party members enslaved while the rest of their party stood beside them, healing. I had to hide said slave in my house for a lot of hours before he could be useful, because dozens of slavers camped outside, as if smelling the slave within. (But I kept the door locked so they couldn't get in)
I made him do all the research, it was good.

I should note that this was done on the Experimental version. If you are playing the stable version, I do not believe this option is in yet.ferociousblazze wrote: So i tried selling a jounin to a slaver in a town but then I couldn't buy him back. As for what I did, I turned the jounin in to the police station and collected his bounty. When I talked to the police chief after he had put him in the cage, the police chief gave me the option to "bail out a friend." When I picked that, I was able to select the jounin and pay his 10,000 price tag to bail him out and into my party.
For the slavers, you just have to drop the unconscious guy near them (mind you this needs to be in one of the slave shops in town, noted by the happy smiley face sign) and he will pick them up and throw them in a cell. Once they are in a cell, you should be able to talk to one of the slavers and purchase any of the slaves in the cells. Do not put them in the cell yourself, or it will not work. Also, you cannot currently sell NPCs to the slavers, only party members.
There are still some issues with the slave traders.
There was a big fight outside traders ridge and the slavers were busy. When I went there they had 20+ slaves listed. dust and starving bandits, and a couple ninja. But when I tried to buy any of them they didn't join my faction, they thanked me for freeing them and ran out the door.
It did take the 3000 out of my cats, but none of the NPCs joined my faction.
the only ones that join are the ones that are listed as "Slave".

Okay the last change to the slave trading makes NO sense. I can buy a slave but the slave get to CHOOSE wither to be mine slave or not????? Really don't get that.
If you don't want slaves in the game then don't put them in. I can see where having them can be a very UN-PC choice. But if you are going to have them at least have it make sense. If I buy a slave they are mine until I unlock their shackles. When I do then let them have the choice to either leave or not leave.
IMHO, the shackles are a great way to limit the use of slaves. They make them painfully slow. So traveling with them is just aggravating. The only place that they are of worth is working in an outpost to do manual labor, but they do it at half the rate of a normal hirelings. So they are not the most efficient choice there either. I would say up the price again and change the random choice to when you remove their shackles like it used to be. KISS.
If you want to address the moral issue of it then again KISS, just add that every time you buy or sell a someone you lose karma points with different factions. Like you always lose 1 point with Mad Cats, because they don't have slavery, If you buy or sell someone from any faction that faction hates you 1 more as well, and for everyone you sell, the slavers will see you as competition (-1 karma) and eventually come after you.
The current method of selling defeated foes works well, just like turning in a bounty. And the price is about right. You get more for selling their gear then them. I would also add the option to smith shackles that you could put on foes yourself. This option should earn you the same or worse karma as buying or selling. As an alternative to selling them to the slavers you could have a karma boost by turning them into the police instead. You would get a minimal standing bounty for certain factions, 100 for a dusty, 50 for a hungry, 500 for a ninja. But you would get a different reaction from the factions like the cities would all like you more but the bandits would put a price on your head.
However there is still a bug that only "slaves" that were spawned as such are able to be bought. all others that are caught and sold just step out of their cage and stand there and will not respond to you or simply run away.
And I have noticed that there is a disconnect between the roving slavers and the ones in the stores. I was thinking that if the roving bands caught some slaves they should take them to the stores, but they don't, they just walk around with them.
If you want to make them more interesting as a faction then they should take all their new stock to the Stone mines where after a certain amount of time determined by their toughness they will be reeducated and then taken to the shops for sale. This would prevent players from dropping slaves off and then buying them back out, which it seems you are trying to prevent. So instead when a new slave bought from the PC have a band of slavemongers dispatched to collect them and return them to the Stone Mine. Where they will be trained and their name will be changed to "slave" and they will later be taken to another city to be placed in the shops. This allows players the chance to intervene and rescue party members before they are lost in the system. It also makes more sense then forcing players to drop slaves at the shop and repurchase them instantly.
OR just take the slavers out all together and replace them with a tradesmen's guild where we can hire researchers, engineers, weapon/armor smiths, ect....

Am i the only one who couldn't do anything with my slaves after i purchased them ? tried twice, they're not in my squad/party. they just "following master". Whats more, after a while, they kind of runaway. Was organizing my squad, and suddenly the slaves are gone.. nowhere to be found...
Im using experimental version, already check local contents whatsoever... is this bug ? or is it not a complete feature ?

The last update 76.?? made it so that when you bought a slave they had a choice wither to join you or not. The chance that they would was pretty slim like 20 %. I just edited the conversation to make it 100%. but that was just for slaves that started out as slaves. Hungry and dust bandits are flaky and still sometimes will ignore you.dimzki wrote:Am i the only one who couldn't do anything with my slaves after i purchased them ? tried twice, they're not in my squad/party. they just "following master". Basically if they don't show up in your squad right away they are just following you around gratefully until you turn your back. Once in a while I have seen them make the decision to stay after they have followed you around a bit, but normally you need to lead them out of the city area for them to make the choice.
Might I ask how you edited the conversation?swillo wrote:The last update 76.?? made it so that when you bought a slave they had a choice wither to join you or not. wait a minute... how can you recruit samurai from police cells ? they fought with the police and earned themselves a bounty ?swillo wrote:Yeah found that as well.dimzki wrote:hmmm... better that i take the jounins to prison and release them immediately, works 100% for me so far![]()
I tend to make bandits slaves and recruit ninja/mercs/samurai ect. from the police cells.
i've been away from the cities for far too long i guess to notice such thing is possible...
been busy building my fortress on the hill
