Ok, so i get that holy nation are asshats who disagree with the existence of female humans. But under what exact authority is it ok for them to walk up to me when i'm minding my own business and start beating me over the head, and if i choose to fight back, I'm committing a crime?

I get it's lore -for the holy nation-. But in terms of game mechanics, they attacked first. They are the ones committing the crime. not me. I should not be getting flagged as committing a crime if i'm actually defending myself. This feels more like a bug to me, or an unjustified exception in the rules of the game. The criminal marking should have a universal standard, or there is going to be major conflictions between "laws" and game mechanical flags. Unless the holy nation are the supreme rulers of the world and their laws firmly overrule every other civillizations laws (which would make me really dislike kenshi), then something needs to be done about this.

If these criminal flags are actually based on territory, then I could see that being justified. But otherwise, not. If a Holy nation member for example chases me into hiver territory and proceeds to beat me down, and i choose to fight back there, i should not get a committing crime flag. THEY should. They should subsequently get a bounty on their head like I do everytime i breath in Holy nation territory.

You came in the wrong neighbourhood. Holy nation rules and they are the law. If they say you're a criminal... then you just need to accept it.

If there were any change I would hope it would be based on faction rather than territory. In terms of what a crime means to a faction, it doesn't make sense that they would suddenly not care that you attack their guards once a border is crossed. But it also doesn't make sense that the Holy Nation Outlaws would see you as a criminal for attacking those guards, either.

Its not really that you become an active criminal with a central enforcement agency though is it, its that you get a bounty on your head the two current non-holy nation cities in game, mongrel and hub, won't attack you for a bounty.

Hopefully holy nation bounties dont carry over to other factions like the united cities though, you'd be getting bounties for helping the UC in fights.
