This hasn't been resolved yet? Logically, we're borrowing a bed in the Hive Village houses, just like renting it. I'm only doing this so my characters can recover from their coma.. But these hive guards keep carrying them out of the bed and put them down outside.
Seriously, where's the logic in that when the Hive Villagers are allowing you to use their beds??

But they're rentable. And if they're rentable, then isn't it allowed?

Well, unfortunately I don't pay money whenever one of my guys put somebody in bed. but when you get into the bed, you do.
That applies to every rentable beds.
I already knew this unspending bug since like 2-3 updates ago.

This is not happening only in hive villages

So if I understand the problem, it's that basically there's no way to pay for the bed, so when your character is KO'd there's no way to avoid the guards removing the character from the bed.
I believe the solution would best be to have some kind of quick dialogue box pop up asking us if we would like to rent the bed. Or just assume that if we give the command to use the bed, we are expecting to pay for it like when we have a character send themselves to bed.

Is it really a bug?
I still remember that the same problem occurs in the early versions of the game..
But since it is possible to build at your own, i"ve never testet ist again
So maybe its better to post in feature requests?

Yes, the bedbugs are still infesting Kenshi.
First found out about it in the Western Hive, like seems a lot of people did. I left a near dead companion to recover, and off I went.
Happens that I'm outside of Mongrel, massacring fogmen, when I notice my comatose companion is sleepwalking. Curious, I look...
And see a Hive soldier carrying my gal out of the Hive. Right smack into a veritable horde of Beak Things. Soldiers and valiantly trying to defend the Hive, but they are *definitely* getting the short end of the stick. I'm hauling butt back to the Hive to save my minion, but there's no way I will get there in time.
I have to stop to kill some Beak Things. Dang nest right smack in my way. I look back, and it's Beak city, and they are eating the Hivelings. Not my minion yet. Still too far out to help.
A wandering npc comes by and bandages up some Hive soldiers... including the limping one that has my gal, who somehow survived. Too far from the action, I guess. But he's got blood in his eye, and he's spoiling for a fight yet. Gimpy old bug, but he's got balls. Or whatever bugs have.
I'm almost back, and he's in combat, *again.* Last drone standing. Two Beak Things. All of them are hurt. By now, I'm starting to root for the little guy. I get there just as a bunch of hurt Beak Things revive, and have to slaughter them, too. Gimpy survives, and *finally* puts my gal down. I patch him up, as he says "The queen will not be pleased with us." No joke. The Hive is trashed.
I'd hire him if I could, though. Despite the bedbug problem, that was some pretty epic combat for a simple Hive Soldier.

What would you do if you found someone sleeping in your bed?
You'd probably help them get the hell out, no doubt.
I see it as that. The only problem is the inability to pay on behalf of an unconscious companion.
Ultimately you should be relying on a camp bed, easily made from one piece of fabric, out in the wilderness if you want to avoid paying.

Agreed with berzerker. The occurance is less of a bug, and more of a fault of a lack of options. The dialogue idea to purchase a bed isn't so bad. Talk to an npc, pay the fee, and it gives you a flag to allow one unit to be placed into a bed of that building.
Being able to throw other people into a bed free of charge as well as bypassing whether the bed is open for rent or not has always been the bug. I guess for whatever reason this was the approach taken to resolve that exploit/bug. Hopefully we'll be able to see a bit more options regarding this in the future. The flophouse back in the old world was a good start, but then that sorta faded :\. Until then, you can always spend 35 more cats, once, to buy fabric and construct your own permanent bed that you never have to pay for again, and can freely use to your heart's content.
