Is it even possible to make a custom race mesh?

I have been working on a custom race for weeks now and have hit a wall. Basically I am trying to put horns on the default male body mesh to practice. I can get the mesh in game, but when I try to load my textures for it the body is just invisible. If I load the mesh onto the cannibal preset everything works fine, but if I load it onto the greenlander for example everything goes invisible again. I will post some screenshots to show what I mean. I can post anything you guys need to troubleshoot.

Should be possible. Not entirely sure what is wrong from just the screenshots.
Send me your mod.

Thank you so much for taking a look! <3
This has the blender file with it's textures and the mod, with normal and diffuse maps.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the uv. A friend of mine made a custom race mod, but all he did to the default mesh is stretch out the ears to make them look like elf ears so the uv was still the exact same as the one used in game. My mod has new objects being added in therefore you have to reunwrap the uv and I am guessing that is where everything gets messed up. :/ Not for sure though.

Some immediate issues I can see:
1 - The model has no binormals. Character meshes need both tangents and binormals checked when exporting.
2 - Character normal maps use the DXT5NormalMap format. (they look grey rather than blue)
3 - Races have 'part map' textures which are used to mask off parts of the body to reduce clipping through clothing. You can use a plain white texture to disable this.
4 - While not really a problem, your race will not be able to wear shirts (like hivers can't) due to the uv layout being different. Either keep the original uvs from the human model or disable shirts in the character race data.

Thank you so much, no one has mentioned any of this before! Really great to find out what those part maps are for! Thanks a lot. :D

All right I am exporting with binormals now. Hopefully this will make a difference!

Sadly the mesh is still invisible. I am guessing the problem lies in the uv map then. So how would I go about adding the horns uv map to the default uv without screwing it up? What kind of witchcraft do I need? xD

The thigh problem is because you messed up the weight maps somehow. Perhaps you used some auto weight map generation stuff.
Probably easier to start again from the original mesh at this point. You can edit the weight maps and uvs of just the parts you have modified.
The lighting issue is probably because the normal map is the wrong format.

I was able to get everything sorted and now I have gone a different direction with the mod with all of the things I have learned. The problem is that now it is crashing Kenshi again and I have checked and rechecked the file and I cannot see what the issue is.... I am sure it is something super small.
