There was a post long ago about deflecting arrows/bolts/harpoons, but nothing about the dodge skill counting(because it didn't exist yet). I think with a high enough perception and dodge a character should have a chance to dodge ranged attacks, depending on the distance and speed of the projectile.

Myeah, sunds like a very interesting idea but currently there aren't really a lot of factions that do use crossbows and those that do are very low quality (well, maybe that's because i use a mod that it seems that way. If that is the case sorry about that) and thus shouldn't cause too much damage. Usually having a high enough toughness stad completely negates most of the damage.lucidmadness wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 1:31 amThere was a post long ago about deflecting arrows/bolts/harpoons, but nothing about the dodge skill counting(because it didn't exist yet). yeah, as of right now harpoon resist is really overpowered, but that is an issue ive already addressed on these forums. i have no idea if they are going to keep it overpowered, but if so this idea might make ranged useless =/

Yeah, that's the problem here. Iether you make harpoons less overpowered but the nwhy do you even need those anyways? Or you make them op as hell and they mw down everyone. I feel like maybe it's time to introduce shields? I mean they weren't really needed before but now with the introduction of crossbows well...maybe they should?lucidmadness wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 12:57 amyeah, as of right now harpoon resist is really overpowered, but that is an issue ive already addressed on these forums. i have no idea if they are going to keep it overpowered, but if so this idea might make ranged useless =/

there is a steam workshop mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... ext=shield i'll try it out and see if it's good
Edit: Tried it out. It needs polishing, but it has potential as a real feature.
2nd edit: in 98.35 they nerfed harpoon resist, so maybe now this might be cool? maybe set heavy armor to slow dodge stat in general to balance it more?

Wasn't dodge ignored when wearing heavy armor? It would only help you get stunned less long but for the other parts it would rely on weapon defense i think.lucidmadness wrote: ↑Sat Jun 23, 2018 7:54 amthere is a steam workshop mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... ext=shield i'll try it out and see if it's good

No, heavy armor mearly cripples your dodge value, it does not stop dodge from being used.TerrorofKenshi wrote: ↑Wed Jun 27, 2018 12:58 amWasn't dodge ignored when wearing heavy armor? It would only help you get stunned less long but for the other parts it would rely on weapon defense i think.

Personally my main guy dodges just as well with 60 kg of armor on, simply because he has 100+ strength (using 2 lifter prosthetic). Let's try to stay on topic though.
Should we be able to notice and then dodge a harpoon/bolt heading toward us without manually moving the character out of the way?
