Does My Computer Suck That Bad????

I have a computer that's a few years old (maybe 5-6?) it's a cheap Wal-Mart one that's nothing fancy. I've noticed though more recently that it's been freezing a lot more often and just generally being sluggish. The game has also crashed twice on me so yeah that's not a good sign. Even if I'm giving it more memory and resources through Task Manager it's still pretty lethargic and constantly freezes up with that "Not Responding..." I have set my visuals about as low as I possibly can, I'm only running it on my computer when I play. It's ALL the time and everywhere I go so I don't think it's a specific location or anything like that.

Yes I am playing with mods even if it's probably not the wisest thing with my Great Value Economy Class Computer.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4170 CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz with Intel (R) HD graphics 4400 not too sure if there's anything else I should make note of. I am verifying the integrity of the game files through Steam, I don't have the game files installed in a Program Files folder but rather I've got my own "Game Directory" I've put it in on an external terabyte hard drive.


So yeah I don't really know what I'm doing wrong and I don't know if others are having this problem too (Haven't read a problem like this.) I just wanna pre-emptively say thanks for looking this over and if you're trying to fix this mess I've gotten myself into and need more info please ask more questions!

sadly, kenshi is resource hungry. it doesn't help that it only uses one CPU core.
best could offer is to get an SSD and install it on that.
but if money is tight, there is not much else you can do.

but i can feel your pain as well. i recently had to replace my video card with a lower end one, now the game only runs at 10fps. which makes it unplayable for me. now I'm waiting to gather enough money to buy a new computer.

Well that makes sense, I am building a new computer and all I really need is a SSD and video card, so I guess those are going to be my next big buys after I get some vehicle stuff done. I appreciate you looking into my case and the news even if it's not what I want to hear. Really thank you!

Best of luck in building your PC, I know mine is a project that's been months in the gathering process. Even if I don't know much about building computers I'm still giving it a try so maybe this will give me time to find something I want and get some money saved back for it! Could pull a page from the game and start slinging hashish I guess! lmao

one thing when building your own computer.
make sure you have a piece of metal nearby and touch it often to ground yourself so you don't accidently fry your computer.

also check https://www.passmark.com/ or https://www.userbenchmark.com/PCBuilder to benchmark the part's you want so you know the performance you are getting verses price.
personally I use passmark the most. its what I used to find most my computer parts and for the prebuilt computer I got picked out to replace my current one.
