Actually Helping Out With Kenshi
Hey there guys, and specifically Chris.
I noticed a lot of your asking for help seems to be coming in the form of requesting donations, and for people to spread the word about the game.
However, as far as I can tell, there is only one person (Chris) working on the entire game, by himself.
Now, I don't know if this is what Chris intended, but if it's not, I'd like to offer my (very amateur) hand in assistance.
Kenshi is a game with obviously great potential, but it's very... Bare bones right now, to say the least. I was hoping Chris might be fine with accepting some help in the coding department as well as the financial department. I have no clue what language Kenshi is coded in (Probably C), but I hope that I'll be able to assist Chris in the actual programming department, if possible. This seems like a really great game, and I want to help make it even better.

EDIT: I should mention I would like to do this on an entirely volunteer basis. No payment required, besides seeing this game come to fruition.

There are many posts like this out there. Chris has said many times that he is not looking for people to come help him in a volunteer capacity. At some stage in the (possibly [likely] far) future he will be looking into hiring an additional coder but there are other costs that come first.
If you really want to help work on the game in a coding capacity then send him your resume and see if he is willing to hire you. Otherwise the best you can do is participate in the forums, donate on his Indie-go-go page and spread the word to your friends, acquaintances and assorted family members who might consider purchasing this game.

I can understand why he doesn't wanna help for coding, since it would take a lot of effort just to manage this and to keep a good quality control, but why not ask volunteer help for texture, general 2D/3D/Sound artists. Just make it clear that its a free help everything submitted will be under Creative Commons rights and can either be used or not by the final or any other stages of the game.Blxz wrote:There are many posts like this out there. I'm just trying to help.
People have offered that too. Still, either he will read this and get back to you or not. No harm in making the post I guess. But don't expect anything other than him repeating what he has said many times before. (or more than likely no reply)

I appreciate the offers but I have found in the past that managing people takes more of my time than I get useable work for. I decided to make it a policy to not use any volunteer helpers on the project. Plus I have really high standards, so if I ask people to submit work they think is suitable I will probably end up rejecting most of it, and I don't want to do that and waste everybodies time.
So... You don't need any volunteer to help with graphic design or animations (which I'm studying right now)? Also I spent a lot of time by modding the games.

if you want full time workers but no money why don't you arrange something else for example partime/full time work for a percentage of finished game products or shares in the game i guess if someone owns 1%to 5% and the game is awesome and gonna sell for 50 per game and you become rich it wont matter to you but then you could get someone to work on it for free or small amount.
dunno what you think about that lol just an idea as opposed to waiting for the money to come in kinda getting a loan of someones time i dunno.
haha

2. go to every gaming forum on the internet and tell everyone to come here(i have done some already)
3. tell your friends family and everyone you have met ever about this game(gamers or not)
4. facebook pictures, clips of you being awesome, or even a link to this site i used the game design part makes people see what chris wants.
that is how you help and i will try to get the game out there if we all do it about 200-400 of us soon there will be thousands and the game will be done in about 1 years time with all the funding.

Ah, I see hammy was responding to my last laugh (Again to you I say Ha!)
You see you said muahahaha, so I said HA! (There is that last laugh again) Why does the first part say "for chris"?
Chris_The_Great = Chris = Founder of Kenshi, has a beard.
Toaster Assassin= A mod = Forum underling bent on mass confusion (and occasionally a smiting or two), known widely for his (side-noting) and disliking of toasters.

I do allot of this in my posts -> (This is a side-note). I call that bit of text that because it adds additional info (comments, random crap and so fourth ) to a sentence in which at times it may not be the main point, but instead supports it. (Simply think of it as an additional info or rambling)

I do much of the same in my posts. (but I think I overuse it)toaster Assassin wrote:I do allot of this in my posts -> (This is a side-note). I remember reading somewhere that anything that shouldn't go in the main sentence and instead requires parentheses is worth totally omitting in favour of making a real point.
Instead I tend to use it as little quips or observations on things that I would say under my breath if this were a view on the situation.
For example: "Why yes madam, I would gladly go out of my way to clean up your mess." (you fat mole).
Still, I find them fun and it gives me my own unique posting style. (less unique now that I know you are doing it).

So it is almost like a casual-aside in a movie.
The (side-note) must be spread to all! (By means of hurling verbal nonsense at the unsuspecting cyber populous till it sinks in). Hmm...it can still be a unique piece, its all in how you use it.
