Cancelling building placement leaves white box

As the title says, if you go to place a shack or something then left click to cancel the white box is left there until you try to build another building.

Also, the white box stays on a bulding you've built until after you try to build another. if this white box isnt supposed to exist at all i can provide screenshots.
