dogs forageing animals

I know that the idea came up before of dogs feeding off corpses. But I had just a different take. If we could assign the job of Foraging animals to dogs and they would then eat raw/spoiled meat from downed critters it would be a great help.

For one thing it would provide a simple realistic way to feed them when you are not building a base with an animal feeder.
Second when in a base where river raptors are an issue it would have a ready steady food supply for the dogs. and you could have them there just to deal with the raptors. (like on a real farm)
Third it would allow dogs could forage for themselves without having to have a human there to pick the meat off the corpse for them. (its a drag picking one rotten meat off each raptor, and then having to put it all in a pack, and since the meat give such low nutrition it's a constant process.)

I have two games were I have a pack of dogs that would be really nice if I didn't have to manage them so much.

That seems like what i've had in mind when suggested pets feeding on the corpses. This only applicable to animals though, so chewing on humanoid legs and such could still be a thing

Also, it could be a good idea to add cooking recipes for pet food, like i just did for personal use shortly after animal hunger has been introduced. After all, at all times the goal in feeding the domesticated animals was to keep them as nourished as pussible, at the lowest possible cost, thus preparation of some simple porridges and goulashes and whatnot seems to be essential.

Yeah the more I think about it the more I like the idea of a farm with dogs to keep the river raptors out.
Need to start a new game.
