I went to World's End on a regular trading route, only to discover the gate is locked by default (see screenshot).

Save your game then reload. That should open it until the Dev's fix it.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

That indeed worked - in fact, it's worked wherever I've encountered this situation, like at Sho-Batti.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Fri Mar 02, 2018 4:10 pmSave your game then reload. That should open it until the Dev's fix it.
(I'd almost swear like the person working on upgrading the towns and cities locked the gates to ensure things inside worked fine...only to forget to unlock them when releasing it to the experimental branch.)

Actually, as i'm remembering now, it seems to have always been the case, althought it had never taken more then a specific dialogue, or a few seconds to open after loading. Same goes for regular doors, that are initially closed on load.
In my first run to World's End, the gates turned to be closed as well, so i had to pry them open (just needed to check something, didn't care about commiting a crime) but in all of the consequent visits there, every time after importing, gates were always open. So here's my experience with gates
