Hi all

I've decided to start a new game in Kenshi after a 2-year break. I've been having a lot of fun with the 'Holy Sword' playthrough so far.
I have run into two issues however, one persistent from the start and another one which I just found very lately.

The recent issue (and which bothers me more than the second one tbf) is that the UC pacifier never seems to want to talk to my main character with 21k bounty on their head. They always dismiss me, saying 'come back tomorrow':

Now this is highly inconvenient. I wanted to go hike in the southern and eastern parts of Kenshi without getting my head chopped off by angry samurai.

What is worth noting, I already went through the process with the Holy Nation pacifier without any problems. HN is no longer hostile to me.
But this guy for some reason refuses to talk to me. I've waited for days, trying to talk to him. I've tried importing and also moved to The Hub, and then to the Swamps for a few days so that Flats Lagoon could despawn and respawn and then I came back. Nothing helped.

So that is the bigger issue, really spoiled my master Kenshitrip plan. The other one is the one I can live with - regular crashing.
I get crashes randomly. Don't think it's related to the corrupt overlays, already read the FAQ etc. It's not so much of a pain in this day and age, as I have an autosave interval of 2 minutes and restarting Kenshi takes less than 15 seconds with an SSD. Not a big deal, but please find the dump file attached nevertheless, oh glorious developers.

The other file is my latest save. Perhaps you will find it useful as well.

Thanks for reading all this, hopefully I can get some answers from other people who may have run into this issue.

You may have to import your current game, that's usually a cure all for bugs.

Pacifiers do not work based off bounty but rather based off relations. If your relations are below....20 IIRC than you can't talk to them. As they literally have nothing to offer.

Also your crashes are a result of your save. You have corrupted zone files. Re-verify your save (or redownload the game, unsure the process for GOG) this should fix the issues.

Hi Atlas!

Thanks a lot for your response. I'll try the re-verification stuff.

As to the pacifier issue - I have -100 relation with 'Imperial Lords' but 0 relations with 'United Cities'. I believe the two are related?
It's from the Holy Sword start. Since there is no pacifier for 'Imperial Lords' does it mean that UC Samurai will attack me on sight and I can't do anything about it?

The Imperial Lords do not exist in the game anymore, they were an old faction that got removed. So you don't have to worry about the relations, the UC will not bother you over that. Though they do still care about that bounty.

Hi Shidan

Thanks, that clarifies quite a bit. So the Pacifier issue is resolved.

However, the crashes have become even worse. I am currently in the Black Desert City and can't play for 2 minutes without crashing.
Here is the error message:

I have removed the overlays and verified the game in GOG Galaxy several times now. I have also reinstalled the game as well as significantly reduced graphical settings mentioned in the error message.

The data circled in red is the video memory usage at the time Kenshi told me it ran out of it. I find it perplexing as I have a 1080Ti with 11GB of VRAM. Plenty of room there, if you ask me.

Can you help me? It appears that I can't play anymore due to those crashes. Please find another crash dump attached.

One thing I would do is verify it's using the correct graphics card. I know sometimes if you have a built in one on the motherboard Kenshi will sometimes decide to default to it. Check the launcher when going into the game to check what it's using.

Otherwise, I'd try grabbing a mod that removes or reduces particle effects, see if that helps. Since if you're hitting an issue related to graphics memory even on low settings I would wager it's the particles at fault.

I am absolutely adamantly certain that Kenshi is using the right video card. It is the one chosen in the launcher (1080 Ti) and there is no way my integrated graphics could render 120 frames per second at QHD in Kenshi.

I like the weather effects, is there really no other way around this problem than to mod those features out? My rig is capable of running it all, there has to be another root to this issue.

I would test the mods regardless, see if they help. Without trying it there isn't really a way to know what the cause is. You just have to keep testing things till you find something that helps.

Otherwise, I would also try disabling shadows. They've always been broken performance wise, and most people play without them.

And you could always try reinstalling your graphics drivers.

Unfortunately I can't read the dump, so I can't use it to assist in finding the issues. Just gotta proceed with trial and error.

Hi

Disabling shadows and turning down texture size helped.
