Hey everyone,

I've had a brief poke around the forum but I couldn't find a post related to this, or perhaps I didn't look for the correct phrase. I apologise in advance if this is a common repost.

What I'd like to see in Kenshi is the ability to give my units/soldiers/characters whatever you want to call them battle behaviour commands, meaning I'd like the ability to tell them to be aggressive (Attack anything that gets within range) Defensive (Fight back if attacked/defend an ally within range that's under attack) and Passive (Will not seek a fight nor fight back unless commanded otherwise). These are fairly standard when it comes to most RTS games out there and this being a SRPG I thought it'd fit well not to mention it'd make things a lot easier for us.

One thing that really gets to me at this point is how my guys constantly look for trouble. If anyone comes anywhere near my town they go apeshit on them, even if I have my makeshift walls in place so no enemies can get to me. This however leaves me in an awkward spot because my guys would run up to the makeshift wall and just run into it and the enemy would do the same and everything comes to a standstill as neither party can get to each other. If I tell my guys to go back to work, they simply return to the wall in an attempt to attack the enemy. I am forced to take down a part of my wall and get rid of the enemy party before I can make my peeps go back to work. So a passive/defensive feature would be ideal!

Other Features I'd like to see (Most have probably been suggested before though)

Combat Stances - As stated Above.

Spears/polearms - Gimme gimme gimme please! I never understood why games exclude these weapon types almost exclusively, but I love them and would love to see them on this game! They also go well with the theme of the game.

Formations - At the moment, the game is just charge in and watch the clusterfuck. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a good old clusterfuck of death but I consider myself a tactical person and formations would appeal to people who also like to approach fights in a tactical/strategical sense rather than go in, kill and leave!

Mounts - This feature, to me, would just expand on the tactical sense of combat. Mounted combat would be nice in my opinion and a way to counter ranged units. Not saying put in vehicles and run people over but perhaps mount animals such as horses or what not or perhaps some other animals that you may have on this planet/universe you've created.

Shields - Again, just to expand for the tactical side of things. Shields would be great and would offer a good counter against ranged units and let's face it, everyone loves a good 300 moment in games! One problem I see with this is that shields don't really go with the whole Japanese/Samurai theme as they did not use shields. Then again, you have many different factions so perhaps you could make it work!

Training Duels - Currently there are only dummies in game to train on and even they only train your attack ability for a bit and done, the rest you have to grind yourself on bandits and eventually other factions. It would be nice to be able to set your guys against each other in friendly duels where they can gain some fighting experience. Mind you, this feature would have to be similar to the dummies in the sense that the duels would only improve you so much before you have to do real fighting/killing to improve.

Group System - The ability to group a selected amount of units together into one squad so that they're easier to select. As I like to keep one group of guys training and the other farming, this would be an easy way to switch between the two groups.

Faction Elimination/Creation - Title says it all really, I want to war factions, defeat them and completely eliminate them from the map! The creation bit is something that'd I'd like to see. What I had in mind is random 'factions' or 'groups' of AI emerging from outside the world map and establishing their foothold on the map. This could be a small group of settlers (4-8 people) to whole migrations (20+)

Throwing weapons - Ninja game, where are the shurikens at bro?! ;)

These are just some suggestions I could think of, I may think of more as I continue playing the game!

I'm loving this game so far though, yeah there's a few bugs here and there but other than that I love everything about it. The whole wasteland/Japanese theme is awesome as I love both the samurai history and post apocalyptic/wasteland settings in games/films/books etc.

Thanks for your time and keep up the good work!

Lots of Love,

The Dio

Type into the search shield, mounts, sparring, spears, duels, squads and see what you come up with.

I now ask me where you saw the ninja game tho xD.

But yeah all of this have pretty much been suggested, and we can only assume they planned as this is something somewhat basic in a squad based game (i mean formations and behavior), and the faction part is simply not fully implemented, so please try to use the search function before do new posts like Marilous said.

I didn t saw any words at throwables weapons but been confirmed mounts will not be in game, and this is me but i am somewhat skeptikal we will be seing shields, doesn t bother me not have or have, there other "replacements".

The main feature I wanted to put forward here is the combat stances/behaviour as the title of the thread states. I have searched for that but couldn't find any threads related to it, but perhaps I didn't search for the right thing.

I'm aware that most of the other have been suggested before (As I have also stated) but they are just some features I'd like to see in the game is all. The game has a Japanese/Samurai/Ninja theme so shurikens and other throw weapons would be appropriate, I think anyway.

Gutted about the mounts, would have been a decent feature if it worked :(

I didn't think shields would be implemented either to be honest, as it goes against the theme of the game.

Pretty much all you said had been, and i still think is weird that people keep sugesting someof this stuff which we pretty much knnow will be in game, not just the faction stuff but the behavior and formations, as is a squad game would be rather weird not to have.

I think would be best when sugested unregular but there worse, at least there people sugesting showing they want help it s good in my opinion.

Despite the fact that pretty much all of these suggestions have been put forward already, I'm glad that they intend to put most of these things into the game! Personally cannot wait to see what this game will be like in a years time! I've already put way too many hours into it and majority of the features aren't even in it yet haha!

If you want a passive worker, just take the sword out of his inventory. He won't run after anybody, then, but instead, he will flee if the enemy gets close enough. Just as the citizens do around cities. I learned this by making an unfortunate citizens life even worse; he was disarmed before, I gave him a cheap weapon, and he'd rush into battle like he owned the place. Needless to say, he died.

The pursuit and attack mechanics will be worked on I'm sure. Everyone in development has a good idea of what we think of that. It's the rest of your post that interests me.

The problem with this is that the weapons are already encoded into the game, and there are no animations or programming for anything but what they've already got, and possibly the upcoming weapons to be added in after now. Spears may come, or they may not, it really all depends on whether or not the workload will be too much for the development team.

I agree here, and assume that eventually the development team will add in something like this. As it stands, it isn't quite like Total War, per say, but it works well enough. When the AI begin to group together in a stable column and can change into a fighting formation like a V or something, that's when we will be seeing what you desire.

Scripting mounts will be harder work, and the team may in a slight chance judge it to be harder than it's worth. There will probably be pack animals, but fighting from a mount doesn't look likely, considering how much coding would be required for the physics to work.

I hope they include shields, but seeing as the weapons do most of the blocking, I feel as though it might not be as necessary. The sabers basically exist to serve two purposes; fighting well, and blocking better.

Let's say duels only improve defense, and risk you injury. That would probably be a better balance because you do need to research those training dummies! ;)

Not only that, but they will need to create a way for us to reorganize the squad bar. If I go from town to town picking people up, I end up with a few workers in my numpad range. This is a major inconvenience because if I have my soldiers on 5-9, but the workers on 2-4, then I may get something mixed up. Micromanagement can get hard sometimes.

This may be more trouble than it would be worth. I think it would serve a lot better if they were to just create a territory mechanic where certain factions patrol, and you can basically wipe them up to take their territory, maybe. Needless to say, they need to be able to do it back.

Scripting nightmare, lol.

I didn't think of that so thanks! Seeing as I normally have them completely walled off while they work/research I won't need them to wield weapons at so hope this works for me too... thanks!

Thanks for going through each suggestion one by one and explaining it more. Must have taken ages haha! I'm glad that some of the game play ones will see the light of day eventually! You have given me hope good sir!
