It's a good idea. Oh my god, I swear that if they don't put this in the suggestion list, I'll be pretty pissed off.

I'd like to see that sort of thing done, it would save a lot of time, and really cut down on the micromanagement needed once we have multiple squads.

I've already broken my group of three into two groups. With my main character near my main base and the others traveling between towns trading. It would be so nice to be able to tell them to go to a town through the map.
Maybe some sort of actual camel/horse/elephant wagon transportation? That also open up possibility of gold sinks, ambushes, giant bandit wagon raiding parties and possibly factional warfare. With scheduled wagon transportation, how early you book space and increasing cost/space left... stuff like that.
In fallout 2's fast travel you could use a car, after going through the trouble of having one repaired, by "using" it, and it would take you directly to the travel map where your movement speed would be increased. I still think it's unlikely we'll get speed increasing vehicles, but i do hope for a time compression travel of sorts.

I've actually said something like that, but never in the suggestions forum.

Actually, I think there should be a sort of informal, ongoing "quest" to have a cartographer map out the entire region, akin to something you might see in a game like Minecraft with its regional maps. There should also be NPCs, particularly traders and military factions, willing to trade for these maps, especially if changes come about such as a new settlement being founded, an old one being raided into oblivion or if it notes the most recent locations of enemy positions.
Not just would it give you an incentive for yourself to know what you're doing, it would also be profitable to give these maps to other traders if the price is right... or if possible, withhold it from them if you think you can profit from their loss.

I like the idea of a map travel option (ie go here on minimap command,) but I dont think an actual fast-travel would be good. The dangers of traveling can be riveting, I'm sure the current "as long as you keep moving you'll never get hit" thing will be fixed, putting in a fast-travel option would hurt the "feel" of the game. However, a fast-forward about twice as fast as the current fastest with auto-slow if you get attacked or, even better, get within a set distence of a hostile, would be awsome.

okay, seeing that travelling is kind of a pain in the butt right now, and afaik Chris confirmed the eventual map will be roughly 4 times the size of the current one, i definitely support an interactive map that can be used to give movement commands. also, the notion of map traders and such is kinda nice. based on the post-apocalyptic scenario in Kenshi, knowing where you are and where you're headed is a matter of survival, so maps would be extremely valuable. on top of giving movement commands, it would be great to have additional information about the settlements you've been to by hovering the cursor over them or clicking them on the map. just basic stuff, faction of the guards etc. that'd be nice.

haha idd no fast travel plz but map travel yey :p
Fast travel would raise questions as did they teleport instantly or does it require the time to actually walk there. and if they do noone can ambush ur traders, which would affect gameplay by alot.
Well u can see the consequenses of it can you ?

Give the poor guy a break on the grammar, it's not that bad. I can still understand it.Tolwrath wrote:Which is why we were talking about it being a greater time compression, and still showing you move. Not some sort of instantaneous "appear in the next town at the click of a button".
Also: your grammar and spelling make me weep.

Probably not. I don't think I would do very well at using another language. I was under the impression that you were a teenager in an English speaking country who was simply too lazy to use proper grammar and spelling. I'm sorry.
Also: isuck, is it your birthday?

i dont think its his birthday more like a reply on the wildlife topic
And i know my english isnt with proper grammar or spelling.
I actually learned english like most gamers do from games (and movies).
And i dont mean the fps kinda games
Well my preferred type of games would be: turnbased strategy games (i dont know whats the short for those) and rts with pause
and rpg, or combined, guess thats kinda why i am here
