Great game, but I am a bit confused on a few things I was hoping someone may be able to help me out on. What is the ideal ratio of Medic to fighters people use? Right now I am using 1 dedicated Medic for every 5 fighters. Will we eventually be able to group them up in separate squads?

Also, what are the pro's and con's of the different weapon types? Currently most of my fighters are using Katana's. However, I am thinking about having my squad leader switch to Heavy Weapons to see how they are. Is there a specific weapon type that dominates or is it best to keep a variety of weapon types in the team? What do you guys equip your guys with and why? Thanks in advance!

In my saves where I use multiple people I find a single dedicated fighter medic works (so he can defend himself). But everyone else has their own skill at healing. A single medpack is given to each guy since they are small and someone can do some emergency healing if required to stem bloodloss.
1 dedicated guy every 5 like you have, sounds massively over the top.

For weapons, I suggest you train everyone to use a katana at first. The other weapons are great for building up your strength but won't build DEX which is required for blocking. So make a mid range katana guy and then change over to their preferred weapon of choice.

The biggest weapons are extremely powerful. A fragment sword will cut through almost anything.

The next step down I have never used and can't even remember what the weapon class is called.

Sabres are a good mix of power and light cutting mobility. I normally have 30% of my guys equipped with this type of weapon.

Katana's are great all rounders. I stick almost everyone on these because they are fast and light weapons. Suits my style well. I tend to equip 50% of my guys with these kinds of weapons. (toppers included)

How do you have more than one save? I wouldn't mind having two games one with multiple guys and one where its just my starting guy and he lone wolfs it the entire time. Speaking of lone wolf type games. Are you able to actually kill large groups of people well just by yourself?

I dont like heavy weapons that much. They are so slow that your guys level up at a snail pace. I do like the sabers, and katana's (especially the two handed ones) are good as well. I also have one guy with a cleaver, and fragment axe for scientific purposes.

Really giving a starting character a heavy weapon is dooming him to very slow progression. Now once he has mastered the katana and his stats are high he might actually be ready to lean to use heavy weapons...but then he is already good at katanas.

Which folder would I need to copy? Looking in the Kenshi folder I see the main Save directory as well as a number of subdirectories inside it. One of these is called Current. Do I just need that one? Or do I copy pasta the whole Save folder? Thanks!

I just copied the quick.save file. It might be the wrong thing (as in, there could be other files important for saving...like maps and stuff) since I haven't loaded it up to check in a long time but...you might want to do some testing.

I use the Topper for my 2 guys, its a big katana that does like 1.5 cutting damage, pretty nifty.

I don't know why people are bagging on heavy weapons. I gave a guy fresh out the gate a heavy, put him on defend only and sent him into the fray. It was a slowish start but it always is with fresh meat. Dex does increase with a heavy but much slower than strength. Of course with a high enough strength and a heavy, it doesn't matter if the other guy is faster because he is going down.

Very True Dimler, and with the HUGE weapons they can take a broad swing and down like 5 guys.

I still recommend that you train someone in lighter weapons first to up their dex to about 20 at least. Then when you switch over they already have a nice base from which to work on. So, you can change your earlier guys onto heavy weapons while your newer guys inherit the old katana's.

There seem to be two types of katanas, the straight and the curved, the former having "popular with beginners" in the description but still has more cutting damage than the curved counterpart. Has anyone noticed a difference between the two? How do you, the more experienced guys, determine which weapon is better?

The straight katana's short length really works against it as far as I can tell. They have a hard time getting inside someones swing range unless they too have a short weapon. This is pretty well demonstrated by the Sand Ninjas. Thing is at the moment most other enemies(Bandits, Merchants) have two handed weapons and just pulverize them from outside their range while surrounding them.

That's exactly what im doing, training with 1h katanas and then go for 2h.

yeah all of my guys are always running at the hungry bandits when they get hit in the head.i think you would either want an extended katana or a hacker weapon since they both got the reach and can be easily used by recruits. though once you're surounded you can't do much else than put your guy on block and hope for the best (since the ocmputer doesn't try to outflank your guys you can block until the enemy pushs your guys out of the circle)
I'M BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i bought kenshi!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the straight katana is pretty much a starter weapon. Only once someone is really skilled can it be used effectively.
