As a Massive fan of RPG & RTS games, I find that lore, is a Must for the game, adding some in depth knowlage too it. So I am going to write out a sample and see how it goes from there.

I will write two for each subject, just for arguments sake; I know these two will go to waste, as I have not yet looked into the background of the game ( Not that there is any at the present moment ), so It may ( Will ) be out of lore for the present moment.

But, the effects of lore, May greatly add depth to NPC's and such.

Sample One:
Capital, the former city of the Arikatote, presently known as the ''Sand Ninja's'', the birthplace of the Mercenaries guild, has been witness to may gruesome battles, most famous of all of them is the ''The Two Clans..''

The Battle of the Two Clans

Before the times of the Empire, the Sand Ninjas ruled over this wasteland known as The kenshi, outlawing all guilds and clans to which wheren't there own. Underground guilds where created whilst many failed due to the all seeing eyes of the White Eyebrown, the secret police of the Arikatote, One stood out, creating problems for the great ninja clan; The Koga, Known by many as ''The Mercenaries Guild''.

In due time, the Koga grew in numbers, whilst the popularity of the Arikatote fell, the people cried out for change,

One nobleman known as Chiriku Takijirichi, a member of the Koga, smuggled in arm's for his fellow Clan members using his vast wealth to bribe the guards to do so, thus allowing a massacre within the city, to which the shogun of the Arikatote was slain. The guild found their new leader, and a stronghold.

The United Cities Pact

It wheren't sure how long it would take for the mighty Arikatote was going to strike back at the Settlement, as they have recently lost many settlements to other forces, but the Koga was weakened due too the heavy losses of the battle of the two clans, could not possible hold there own against the armies of the Sand Ninja's, had no choice, but too seek outside help, thus the treaty of the united cities was formed.

Many settlements at this point has broke free from the reign of the Arikatote, but all weakened by the battles that gained there freedom, until one man '' Dotokichiku'' requested the presence of all the leaders of the free cities, and convinced them all, too unite under one banner, a treaty too which formed ''The United Cities''. The terms of this would state that if ever a city under the rule of the treaty, the others shall send aid.

Fortuantly, many years after the gruesome battles, the Sand Ninja's dissappeared from public view, only appearing to attack trade caravans, and patrols.

For now, Capital was safe.
Names of pacts and battles WILL be edited, for now, I just dont fancy thinking up some fancy name, due to editing perposes and what not.. give me your two cents on what you feel it should be called.

I do apologise about sample 2, I shall write it soon, Download festival is on Skuzz, and I am intrested :ugeek: ( woo Skindred? ) so it's been keeping me distracted safely, so if there are any errors in my Rough Rough ROUGH draft of sample one, appear, then yer'know, slap me on the wrist.. :ugeek: ( bound to be errors at 1 am, a 10 minute type, and distracted by ye'almighty skindred )

But yer'see, In sample one, I have attempted to create as much lore as possible for quite a bulk of assossiated story's, hopefully giving each faction a leader.

those whom know japanese will know, that each name that was given there, has a special meaning:

Arikatote - Sand ( sand ninja, geddit? )
Chiriku Takijirichi - The light
Dotokichiku - Unite
Koga - Who the fuck knows, Just a random name came to mind ._. as the mercenaries guild, is utterly unpronounceable, and like, 40 charactors long.

So aye, give me some feedback, and hopefully, yer'll be seeing me around,

It is appropriate here though, a lot of us are assuming feudalism. Clan would be right.

The idea is to allow people to slip into the game without much trouble. It is a good idea to give some kind of story to this game, but be also aware that people have made their own stories of the game.... like *CENSORED* and bees.

With oblivion, I ignored all lore for one save, and Made up my own  :ugeek: Ubergeek much? But aye... the lore should be there, whilst players can ignore it for a lil'bit and what not.

The one thing that attracts me, and a large deal of many players is; the lore.. if its none existant then nay, I will not play... ( it rhymes :3 ) that is not just me, it's quite a few players, belive it or not, its what gave World of warcraft it's millions of players.. and skyrim a large dose of its population :ugeek:

I was under the belief that Kenshi was more of a sandbox game hence the sand... you could have the lore as mod.

I love it. Chris was nice and creative with his censoring on the forum. He doesn't realise that when you try to stifle the P I E that the TRUTH will always shine through. P I E will find a way.

Also, your lore should include p i e and b e e s.

"The Battle of the two patisserie teams" has an interesting ring to it. Alternatively the clash of sweet and savoury baked goods worshippers? Or those who would use the sacred honey in their baked goods versus those who protect and uphold the values of the creators of the sacred sweetness?

Hell, we even have mods being created just to bring us this goodness. Not to mention that Chris would be very remiss if he did not include an easter egg of some sort to the sickening fascination this community seems to have with P I E.

@OP: Quite honestly, while the lore is somewhat entertaining from a content wise perpective, you seriously have to work on your grammar, because you have a lot of errors in your lore texts. While I am not a native English speaker (and therefore make mistakes myself sometimes), I still found a lot of basic mistakes (like "Sand Ninja's"; this is just wrong, the plural is never "apostroph s", a simple "s" at the end is correct) that could have been easily avoided. Also, avoid concatinating half-sentences. It is no correct sentence in the end (missing verb) and makes for a bumpy reading experience.

This being said, don't take my critique as a negative thing. Feedback is there so you can grow. I am sure, that if you worked on this, your lore will entertain a lot of people in the end.

Training suggestion: Write your lore in MS-Word or an other word processor with an active correction function.

I actually dont need it, I could just skim through the text and fix myself, when I wrote this I had just got back from the NEC after a long day, and was about to retire.

I've just been putting off fixing it.

Fair enough.

Didn't want to piss you off or anything with my "review". I'm just some kind of grammar nazi, so these things kind of jump into my face, so don't mind me. ;)
