Believability is still a factor, but unlike most people I find landwhalesharks more believable than magic spells.

Oh well, that's a perfectly reasonable answer for an artist. (And thanks for not just getting offended and actually answering.) I've got no more criticism for that bit. :D

Are you gonna add descriptions for like, how a creature like that would have come into existance? It could be cool to take either a scientific or mytholical approach, or even better, both! You start off with nothing more than the myths but if you work on finding out more you can actually learn the real origin of the landwhaleshark! :)

Well, if he's doing like an alternate dimension/planet, then he could basically just say that's the way the species has evolved in this world. He could have books lying around that have 'scientific research' on the various creatures that he has in his world. Hell, you could even have a thing that makes it so that you do extra damage to those creatures after doing research on them. (research means you know where their weak points are and stuff like that)

i agree with christ, lol

magic makes no sense, because it isent explained. its just 'there is an effect, because of something non sensical presented in a ritual form to disguise the lack of sense as ignorance of people not supporting it'

landwhale sharks are perfectly possible assuming the physical mechanics of their motion was possible, and if it wasent, think of a reason it would be. when you have control how the world itself is constructed, physics becomes your bitch

Our host is nifty and awesome, but I don't think he's quite the son of God. :P

You know, magic could be defined as anything not explicible by current science. You scientifically explain something and it's no longer magic. This means, if something is properly constructed, you could easily have 'magic' without magic. Now, I'm sure Chris would definitely want to avoid anything that close to traditional magic, even in feel, but pushing the realms of reality can go in many directions without magic. Landwhalesharks, for instance. XD

You could even have a book item somewhere in the game that details various bits of 'research' on the various critters that you create and put into the game. Stuff like biology, migration patterns, etc. Just for lulz.

In fact, something that might be amusing to see is an organization of sages who do a great deal of historical and scientific research. You could have them said to be sorcerers, but it's simply because their knowledge of science is superior to others. Just as a little poke at the cliche medieval fantasy rpg's.

yup, magic is defined as anything that cant be understood as to how it works.

though it usually has a mystical bullshit connotation when it comes to media >.>

Lol, that's cuz the general populace doesn't like something that's completely unexplained, so the 'explanation' of magic is that there is no explanation and it's all kinds of mystical and such.

So, avoid 'mystical' and make sure to explain things properly and bam, you can do just about anything without it being 'magic'.

Some things will always be magic no matter how well they are explained. Like microwaves.
