Just purchased after having tried the demo for an hour or two. Very good, I enjoy it muchly. Love the blend of RTS and RPG elements, controls are very well laid out/easy to use. The context menu works very well with the design. I would suggest either icons or larger "hitboxes" for items on the ground, as they are quite hard to spot at times, and even sometimes sit just below the surface (on hills).

I'm curious about the future direction of the game ? Is there a design document somewhere ?

Will players eventually be able to "issue" orders to units without personally walking them through it... That is to say, things such as patrol, attack to position, defend location/unit/etc, or perhaps even trade routes ?

Are there any plans for any kind of mounts or vehicles ?

Will there be an energy/resource/upkeep dimension to the towns/forts ? By this I mean will you need to build windmills or whathaveyou to enable certain buildings, or will you need to provide water or food or something like that ? Will NPCs move into vacant structures ? Can you rent them/profit from them ?

What about different areas ? The desert landscape is rustic, but somewhat dull. Will there be forested areas ? Or any other biomes ? What about water/naval elements ?

Very intrigued by this project, I'll be keeping a close eye as it develops.

Well done, and congratulations !

About the energy thing, chris already said that you will ned windmills for the energy of the building, :D

I think you can buy food from the trade shop, but for now its just for trading, maybe hunger in the next updates?

Also you will be getting a profit from the building ( we dont know how ) because there will be some factions trying to take a % of your money in certain time, something like taxes, ( They start coming when you build something ( This feature got added by accident in the 0.26.7 i think, and chris took it out in 0.26.9) )

In some post chris said that right now the map is like a quarter of the full release map, maybe there will be more biomes, water and more trees is planned.

Hope this helps you out.

Well, no mounts. But there might be something like a rickshaw for transporting something. And yes some future plans have been discussed. Try reading the ' what do you want next thread', at least from page 12 to the end.

Oh and there is this http://kenshi.wikia.com/wiki/Kenshi_Wiki

The wiki its not that complete, so i recommend you just search the forums and the main page of kenshi for the news. thats how i got to know about the dev of the game.

i quite like the idea of naval warfare especially if it uses a similar damage mechanic as it does for people.
also what weapons do you think the ships would use? cannons seem a little to different than the current game and all the other weapons wouldn't do significant damage to the ships(unless you used fire arrows)

also i don't think pack mules would be too bad as a more advanced form of trading maybe it can hold 2 backpacks instead of 1?

I dont think there will be naval warfares for now, but water is planned, so idk, also chris said that the game will be focused in sword fights so its most likely that its not going to happen.

maybe it would only be based on ramming other ships and boarding? you still have melee combat and can fight by ramming the ships and shooting the other ship with bows and harpoon guns.

I dont know, i dont think that would work, i mean, how would you carry a boat in the desert? in your large traders pack? i dont think so.

you can carry the parts themselves to the water and maybe set it up after you've built some docks, or maybe you buy a boat.

EDIT: darnit i forgot to quote :(

Even in pieces, a boat is too big to fit in a backpack.

divide the pieces between the faction and carry it all to the water then, depending on the size of the boat you should be able to carry it all in one go. plus shopkeeper bags are pretty big.

you have a point there...

it'd probably break their backs unless you have a lot, and all your units participate in the dragging as well, it'd still be quite slow though even if it's possible specially if it's a huge boat.

i meant drag several pieces to the shore via several different convoys using several pack mules/groups of people. of course you could just carry the raw materials to the dock and construct it there.

Or maybe, just maybe, we drop this silly idea and be done with it.

yes

no, except for something like pack mules

What about water/naval elements ?
No, simply because its too much extra work to implement.
