So, visiting several indie forums I realize questions like these outs you as a newcomer right away, but I feel I must pose it nonetheless.

What are we expecting to see next? And when is realistic? I'm not to this game so I don't know how frequent content updates are, and seeing as there (as far as I can tell) is only one dev I expect it to be less than fast.

I'm mostly asking for a general feel for the community here, and because, whilst I love the vision of the game (having already bought it) and enjoy what Chris has made to an extend; there really isn't anything to "do".

For example something I feel would add alot to the game, and something which I know will be added at some point, are ranged weapons. For a squad based game, the game really doesn't function at all right now, because there is only one role; that being "swordguy".

Furthermore I'd like to voice a few specific points of feedback I've noticed.

- First of all, having a weapons speed stat essencially being it's weight confused me greatly at first. I assumed the weight worked with regards to strength and how much one can carry (which it actually does too?) But then I realized it actually also directly reflects the weapons' speed? There is nowhere actually explaining how all this adds up.

- I don't know whether you, Chris, intend to do something about the resolution, but right now it is what keeps several peopleI know from playing the game. The fact that I can barely read the name of my characters when just zoomed out a little is greatly annoying.

- I'd really appreciate a minimap and the ability to order people according to it.

- Also some point to the overly long travel times would be nice too. I'm not one for being lazy in my games, but walking through several mins of eventless desert just to reach the next town over get really tiresome. I'm not asking for them to be lowered, I'd just like something to actually do aside from directly running back and forth with the speed at max.

And lastly something that is really offputting is the mountains clipping through houses everywhere. I every second city has shops that are virtually useless because I can find the trader inside his massive amount of mountain side inside his shop.

That's it ! Sorry for the long rant, and I truly do love the potential of this game,I just want a general headsup if you guys don't mind.

Oh and don't flame me too hard ;).

for the speed, the strength stat allows you to swing bigger weapons faster, and increases blunt damage. the attack skill, defensive skill, and dexterity increase the speed of weapons that have a weight lower then your strength stat as far as i know.

the resolution can be changed to a higher one pretty easily, just change it during the kenshi set-up when you start it up.

not sure exactly what's coming in the future since i dont really search around for that stuff, and btw welcome to the forums

Will address some thing, but possibly not all.

-For current minimap issue
You can always get the map with the common "M" key, a radar of your surrounding for allies and enemies would be nice, but don't think that it is on the priority list.

-Names
There had been talk/suggestion to change the font and color to be more "visual friendlier".

-Resolution
Can be adjusted in the start-up menu, just in case a reader hadn't noticed.

-Long Travels
Well..... there is the fast fast forward option, and the random mobs and items that you can get at.
But since it has that sandbox feel to it.... it probably is there for the benefit of deciding where to build a home base and roam (as the game is more or less about roaming around since you're a swordsman).

-Roles
For fighting yes... it is limited to sword mainly hence the title of the game.
There are heavy sword hitters and then swords that are more specialized in duals.
You can give someone the healer role, engineer, or baggage carrier. Currently not all skills are unlocked, if you looked in the skills tab.

-Mountain clipping
Must be an issue in which the structure are sinking, screen shot would be awesome helper there.
There are issues with the mountains preventing you to use a bed or two, but the game is still in its testing stage after all.

-I remember reading something about the believed finishing date of development being 2 years, but we'll see. Chris, the all magnificent, is getting help with the development with the money earned from the game, so it is fan based funded.

Hope it cleared some things.

Don't worry, no flaming :P It's always nice to get new posters.
Just kidding, we all hate you and everything you say

Many of those thing u said will be in complete game. Which I'm pretty sure you knew already if you have been checking forums. But as u said there's only one dev and his beard so it's not finished in a month.

First of all, if u want to suggest what should be done next, there's own topic or it here. Maybe u should check it out :) >> http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... f=10&t=664
ranged weapons. For a squad based game, the game really doesn't function at all right now, because there is only one role; that being "swordguy".
There has been said (not sure where, maybe FAQ or front page) that fighting in Kenshi will ground mostly on sword fighting so it's no miracle swords are added at early stage. I think that ranged weapons will play bigger part when true sieges are added to game so there's no hurry with them. Sure it would bring little more variety to fights but... well... Now you see dudes fighting with swords automatically. If ranged weapons are added... You see dudes fighting with one of them little separated, standing still and shooting. That wouldn't add more stuff to do, I think. :ugeek:
First of all, having a weapons speed stat essencially being it's weight confused me greatly at first. Not completely sure what u r trying to say. (sry my English) As far as I know, strength only affects damage at the moment (might be wrong thought), since exhaustion and carrying limit hasn't been added jet. I think dexterity is more important in attack speed.
I don't know whether you, Chris, intend to do something about the resolution, but right now it is what keeps several peopleI know from playing the game. The fact that I can barely read the name of my characters when just zoomed out a little is greatly annoying.
There is much more important things than graphics and such. We need working game before little things. Big stuff first, then little improvements. But they will be added don't worry ;)
Also some point to the overly long travel times would be nice too.
There will be fast traveling.
And lastly something that is really offputting is the mountains clipping through houses everywhere. I every second city has shops that are virtually useless because I can find the trader inside his massive amount of mountain side inside his shop.
I might be having the same bug, if you mean the one where mountains seem to be inside houses. But I have never had trouble them preventing me from talking to shop keepers. When I walk into house the rock goes of and I can see Insides of house normally.

Sorry for the long rant as well

[EDIT]
I hate it when I'm writing long post and someone posts while I'm still writing. Especially when they all prov me wrong on something

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll do an overall response since you guys each covered a few things and some overlapped.

First of all, I have no idea why I didn't realize the pop up window was actually a start up menu... *facepalm* Anyway, that certainly made everything more bareable to look at (I can actually read the text now).

My main thing though is what Diruk said a bout roles. Yes, I realize there are several types of sword, and to that extend you can make characters different. However a supposed squad based game is about making groups of people who works well together. There is no support for eachother at all, if every member happens to use sword exclusively. A squad is all about people filling different roles, and as it stands there is 1 or perhaps 2 roles if you're generous. With ranged weapons you'd add a clear role, making squad combat and tactics far more interesting.

I actually thought the mountain clipping through the houses was a normal issue, but I guess it might be a bug if you guys have not experienced it. I'll supply a screenshot :).

As for the traveling. I realize there is a fast forward button, and I know there are patrols of enemies. But the patrols do not pose any danger at all for a traveling party, as there is no way for them to actually hit you if you simply keep traveling.
I realize this specific issue may resolve itself as the game grows in features and enemies, so I'm not too worried about it.

I'll check out the suggestion thread aswell, I'm sure the main part of the arguing goes on in there :P.

Maybe you should try putting the mountain cutting on bug forum. That way it might get fixed faster. :)

I have noticed that too. Even though some bandit leaders might be faster than own squad, they never hit even when they catch up. I think that will chance in the future. Also when fatigue has been implemented you can't just run hole map through. You have to rest and that's when bandits attack
