I noticed that a lot of people enjoy Kenshi, but I'm just curious to see why each person is so excited about Kenshi.
Kenshi is unique -- it's trying to create a whole new "genre" of game. It's similar to M&B, but the amount of control you have over each aspect of the game is amazing. Personally, what I look forward to most in the game is opportunity.
The fact that you can control an individual unit, or a squad of players, is awesome. Add on the fact that you can build your own base and eventually create your own economy is mind-blowing. The variety in weapons is also really exciting, but there's as little bit more that I want to see (which may or may not be planned). As of right now, weapon variety is a little bit sparse, but that's understandable.
I'm just wondering about the weapon/armor possibilities in the future. I know that dual-wielding isn't going to be implemented, but I'm wondering if it's possible to implement shields or some other sort of off-hand item?
Another really cool addition would be the creation of different "styles" of combat within each weapon group. As of right now, depending on the arc of the swing and the type of weapon, certain weapons (such as heavy weapons or hackers) are MUCH more suited to fighting against crowds of enemies. What if you created different styles for weapons (basically just different swing animations)? Also, I'm not sure, but is damage impacted by the velocity of a weapon at all? I think it'd make a huge difference if you did more damage to somebody at the end of your swing, as opposed to the very beginning -- it'd make positioning much more important.
For example:
Katana's are light weapons, and very well-suited for 1v1 combat. What if, with shorter katana's, you created a "fencing" sword of style? A style focused on very quick (albeit weaker) strikes and can chain together moves quickly? Maybe it'd be possible to chain 2-3 strikes at a time, and maybe even more when you reach higher skill levels? I know that dodging is planned to be incorporated into the game as well, so maybe a "fencing" style could incorporate a lot of dodges or parries?
Another example:
Heavy weapons are awesome weapons in crowds, but what about 1v1? I think a cool mechanic (that a lot of games overlook) are using attacks that don't just rely on swinging the weapon. Heavy weapons are extremely heavy, so incorporating non-traditional styles of attacks could be cool. What if it were possible to push enemies around? Instead of just swinging the weapon, a character could use a quick "push" to make an enemy stumble away or overpower them and knock them over.
Why do you like Kenshi?
Every time I've ever seen a thread about 'Your perfect game' or sat and thought about it something almost identical to Kenshi always came to my mind. So naturally when I found Kenshi it was just like a dream come true.
I generally love sandbox games that allow you to decide what you're own objectives are. There are lot of games with open worlds out there but few of them truly let you make up your own mind but rather give you a choice "You want to do this story or that story"
A game without objectives means you can make it whatever you want which is why I like sandbox in general.
Kenshi is fun for me primary because i love the combat portion of it. To me its well done, I love watching two squads of people charge at each and I love the chaos in the melee with people running everywhere. Its a big mess when the two squads clash and you watch as people go down. You make your medics run around to heal people as the rest of the squad fights for their loves. Its awesome.
I'm dreaming of seeing it grow and seeing what I can do with towns when I build mine bigger. The fact I can take prisoners alone just seems awesome. Its like I'm building a living trophy case. Besides that I like the idea that I can someday build a bustling outpost with god knows what going on.

I don't have a detailed answer, but I've always liked games like Freelancer, a space simulation game(trade, fight, take jobs, fight/join factions, etc). I like the open world with a lot of options and paths to take, "career" options so to speak. I'm not playing much now, since a lot of the stuff now is mostly just character/squad leveling, but I'm really looking forward to every update that comes out.

Why do I like Kenshi?
Getting stronger and having a noticeable change. In the beginning you get owned, later on when your starts are high, you take one swing and take down three guys. Send them flying. I like it when high stats make different affects (sending them flying rather than just them falling down in one hit).
I like the sandbox style, I have seen hints that perhaps bounty hunting will be added. <- I LIKE THIS
Used to play Star Wars galaxies, was a bounty hunter. It was AWESOME! Bounty hunting in Kenshi will not be quite as exhilarating simply because its not against real people, but still.
Swords. Yes, just swords. There is also evidence that martial arts will be implemented. GOOD. The plank kind of looks like a Buster sword(BIG-arse sword from FF). I like big swords.
The vibe. Kenshi kind of reminds me of FullMetal Alchemist, kind of Blade, kind of whatever using a katana, overall its a very good feel. You create your dude, slap a senge hat on him, throw on some armor that covers one arm and full chest, pair of pants and some clogs...
you have one B-A mofo ready to rock n roll. Who doesn't like senge hats, clogs, armor and katanas? Seriously?
I like that Chris has been making this game for some time now and he still, clearly, has the motivation to keep at it. Seriously, tons of patch's and little changes fairly often. If he keeps this up when he starts making the big bucks(Unlike NOTCH, YOU BAS***D!) then this game will be so full of awesome my head may just explode.
