Ok, have to ask, is it actualy going to mean what I think it might possibly end up meaning? Or is it just going to be different former clan-affiliations/backstories for each character?

I mean, Goris from fallout 2 made a fantastic squad-member… just saying.

The option for character creation marked as "Species", Will the game actually allow you to have party members of different species? Creatures? Monsters? Other intelligent species that are not human?

Goris was a scholar, and a deathclaw, from Fallout 2, didn't use (or, in fact, need) any weapons in combat, as I’m sure you can imagine.

I've heard the game will have monsters, and there's that "species" tag when creating characters, so yeah, just seemed like something that warranted asking.

Really?

I can't be sure as I don't remember it, but isn't it just a nice (or possibly open way) of saying 'race'?

Hmm, right now all I can find is: “Blood loss means you can pass out, and the blood will attract predators.”

Although I’m pretty sure that I have specifically read the word “monster” used to describe hostile creatures of the desert in a couple instances from official sources, I’ll keep looking.

Yes, there have been old statements in the lofigames.com (not forums) about animals but in the forums Chris has said that adding wolves/lions ect. would break the combat system we have now, so adding them would be too much work.

So probably there will be no animals (except for package mules and stuff) and if there will, they will be implemented on late development.

Maybe wanna check this out: http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... lion#p9900

Ahh, ok, pitty.

Speaking of such things, anyone know what those skeletons are of? whales? Seem too big for elephants, my entire squad could fit inside the rib-cage of one of them.

This is not entirely correct. Animals have not been ruled out. They do require a different set of combat AI, but that is not that hard. Chris has talked about adding grappling combat system that would be fine with animals. If Chris does not want to add them for time reasons, a modder easily could at that point.

Chris usually speaks of ideas in terms of priority. Right now it seems like character-world mechanics and art have a priority. Animals are a lot of work, but there could easily exist conditions where they are more viable.

Nothing says Species. It says human, which you can change to tribal. Dunno what that's about, but there's no species thing.

The tribal- human is what the op is refering too. It is a level that could indicates different character meshes, skeletons and animations.
