I downloaded v 0.30 now and tried it. The ground was still black, so I tried the AVTerrain replacement from 5 posts up, and it crashed again. I have attached the crash dump.

Its probably just the way your video card is compiling my temporary file. It should still work for others I hope, but until someone posts me a screenshot I'm just waiting.

The screenshot above was taken with the most recent AVTerrain.zip applied and the land textures
Sand01bc.dds and Sand01bc - Copy.dds removed from Kenshi\data\land\textures.

After placing Sand01bc.dds and Sand01bc - Copy.dds back into Kenshi\data\land\textures, these are the effects it had.

If you're not sure as to what it is I'm talking about, take a look at this.
Menthus wrote:I've found a temporary solution to this problem.

By removing:
Sand01bc - Copy.dds
Sand01bc.adds

From Kenshi\data\land\textures
(Make sure Sand01bc_n.dds and the rest of the textures are left alone.)

I've found that it made the ground being all black, a bit more bearable.

To: http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s59 ... e731f4.jpg

Instead of deleting those textures I'd move them to a temporary folder, just in case this doesn't work for you. Hope this helps!
Basically just removed all the changes I made while trying to make the game a bit more bearable with the ground being black and all.

Sorry about the wait, been fairly busy recently. Here is a screenshot of my game. It runs fine and looks pretty fly too. But if you say there's still something wrong I will do my best to help it get fixed. Never did delete Sand01bc.dds and Sand01bc - Copy.dds as it seemed a bit futile making the 'blackness' a bit prettier. If you need anything else I will be happy to help as I now have a week off and will have plenty of time to play.

Ok, thats a good sign, I think I am onto it now. Try this new one, it will fix the redness, show me screenshots again, preferably showing the transitions between the different terrain textures.

Hey I have the same problem. Seeing as I've never changed any game files on my own before. I'd like someone to guide me through the process by simply posting up the instructions as detailed as possible. To make the necessary steps in order to change my files to the newest fix Chris has come up with.

I still play the game even with the black terrain I see and still enjoy it very much so even the bluish tint or redish tint changes would be fine by me and would allow me to enjoy more because things will be a lot more visible.

That latest one makes it go all black again. Do you still need a screenshot?

It's real simple. Just find the folder Kenshi>data>materials, download and unzip the AVTerrain.zip that was posted in reply to my first comment and move AVTerrain.cg into materials (replacing or renaming the old one).

My be simpler if I could find those files. When I open file location it takes me to internet explorer and does nothing. The only place I can find anything about kenshi is in local disk and it doesn't have any folder just some documents with strange names. i'm running windows 7 is there like some stupid problem with windows 7 that doesn't let me see those files or am I just doing it wrong?

Well, I'll have to agree with everyone here... If that bug is quite annoying, it's not that horrible. Anyway, after I install the latest "AVTerrain" you gave us, the sand goes back to black.... Still better than nothing anyway...

This is the weirdest bug ever. I'm literally just adding a line to hard-set the blue color to 1, and suddenly it works.

Try this one:

Alright, just tried your new one. It looks mostly normal, but the cliffs are too dark and the edges of cliff textures are negative or something...
