Now that there is a topic for it, I might as well tell that I'm going to be gone for 2 years too.
Well... Not really 2 years. But I'm getting to Greece for a week
AND after new year (could be 7th day) I'm going to military service for at least half a year. (Probably for a full year)

How do you go into the military service for only a year? Does Finland actively utilise conscription?
In the US it is a couple of years + a possible *stoploss.
*Stop-loss: In the U.S. military, it is the involuntary extension of a service member's active duty service under the enlistment contract in order to retain them beyond their initial end of term of service (ETS) date and up to their contractually agreed end of obligated service (EOS). It also applies to the cessation of a permanent change of station (PCS) move for a member still in military service.

I'm back, Greece was great, food was awesome, I ran the marathon and I'm fucking proud of it.
(Time was bad, just over 5 hours, but still.)
This is from Wikipedia:
"The Finnish defence forces is based on a universal male conscription. All men above 18 years of age are liable to serve either six, nine or twelve months."

Only Athens and Pireus. Our hotel was right next to the Syntagma Square where all the riots and demonstration were happening which was pretty exiting. It was really interesting what is really happening in Greece since, (at least in Europe,) everyone is talking about it.
The very first moment we arrived there was big strike so almost non public transportation was running. We still managed to get pretty close to the center from airport with 2 buses and subway. When we arrived there was big demonstration on the square and people threw molotov coctails and police used tier gas. We had to escape the gas to nearby garage before going to hotel. Anyone who has been on big music festivals might know how tear gas sucks.
Rest of the vacation went great. Every other day was some sort of encounter between demonstrators and police but they weren't so bad and mostly we were on the other side of the city when they occurred. On Sunday was marathon which I'm still proud as hell. My legs still hurt every morning.
[EDIT]
I might add some photos to the pic topic if I have any that are worth showing. Haven't got time to see them all yet.
