I did some research, and I found that people didn't though of how things started. Also, please don't confuse with wanting more tech, I have taken that when I TOTALLY ment something else.
I don't really like how it starts: with all thoose shiny katanas and weapons and etc. I though "why the hell is this starting like with all the tech avaiable?". I though that certain swords and buildings woldn't be avaiable because tech wasn't that advanced yet. A scientist might all of sudden invent the ringed, and I no longer have to b!tch about it, and bandits might make a new kind of armor and I will start b!tch!ng about it.
Now for tech avaiable: I think that the only thing that is avaiable is the millitary and production tech. People, do you know how the whole parliament works? Do you know what a technocracy is? And how about socialism, is it REALLY the same or really like comunism? There should be research for like politics like the parliament, and etc. Also, I really am interested in Technocracy. And no, there's no Internet in Kenshi.
And please PLEASE, dont mistake it with me demanding more millitary tech or production tech, that's already annoying.
Technological progress

So your if we don't start with swords, you'd want us to start using what little guns and ammo we had left , and then switch to wooden clubs? I Can see how it could be fun to start the world with pretty basic stuff only, but researching the technologies for later stuff would require having pieces of the old world technology, or their books, interlaced into the world for you or other factions to discover.
But not everyone would want to start with such a low level of tech, and certainly not every time they play. Maybe an ability to choose what Tech period you start in like the Total War games.
As for political systems, survivors of a catastrophe would probably either shift into a democracy or an oligarchy and progress from there. OR someone would seize power and become their leader, maybe just through that one person being more competent, or through use of force. I'm not entirely sure how a group would research a new political system (other than through game mechanics where you click on what you want to learn, and a few days later you can switch to it and run it at optimum efficiency).
Can you elaborate a bit more on your thoughts? I'm not sure I'm getting what you're saying.

We're not just like, the survivors of some apocalypse in Kenshi. You start off in what is pretty clearly a fairly well established society, built out of what resources they had available. There's no lore to tell you how long it has been since the end of the previous age, I'm unsure why we should go dirt farming to build up the technology we'll need to produce our first brick. That doesn't sound like a terribly exciting game, and given the fact that there is meant to be a great deal of choice in how you play Kenshi, it seems rather limiting to suggest that the world be changed in order to facilitate some desire to build up society from scratch. The game is highly moddable, perhaps someone will share your yearning for less advanced starting points in the game.

What I am saying is that we can't all just start with ADVANCED stuff, we should start with basic swords, plate armour and political systems being avaiable and affordable by considerable large nations, but other people wold invent that (or you). That's all I'm saying. Also that of the Total War age choosing thing is pretty neat. Wait, you can do that in Total War?Tolwrath wrote:So your if we don't start with swords, you'd want us to start using what little guns and ammo we had left , and then switch to wooden clubs? I didn't say from SCRATCH! Or maybe I did... anyways, all what I'm saying is that the advanced stuff we see right now should be researched in time. Also, some things should be faster than others to so then the game isn't so boring. And plus, who said anything about what's being invented next? It could be random, either the best sword ever may be invented or new industrial and farming techniques may be developed, I didn't say anything about predicting it.Clawdius Talonious wrote:We're not just like, the survivors of some apocalypse in Kenshi. Sounds like a mod. The empire I know can only start in 1700AD.Tolwrath wrote:I know you can in Empire Total War at least. You can choose to start in early or late period, affecting what troops are available and such.

Hrm... I've only played Empire in multiplayer, and I know you can set what period the multiplayer match is in. I just assumed it was in single player too. I know at least one of the Medieval Total Wars has this option for single player.Blxz wrote:Sounds like a mod. I think it makes sense, with what Chris wanted. that you are just a normal person in the world and there is nothing special about you. The civilization thrived just fine without you and will continue to do so.
So if technical advancement first starts when you appear, wouldn't it contradict that?
