As per my post in this thread ( http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... f=5&t=2650 ) I'd like Chris to implement some sort of registration feature on the forums. Something simple that we can use to tie our purchase to our forum name in case the CD key is ever misplaced and we need to reinstall on a different computer.

As more people buy into kenshi and more time passes this will become a more frequent issue. Misplacing the cd-key and having to contact chris each time for each person could be a bother for him and I think taking a small amount of time to set this forum feature up will pay back dividends in the coming....months, years? Who knows.

I am all for it, just as long as there is no DRM style bull s***.

Meant to be totally optional. more as a service. If chris wanted to extend it (no real reason but might be fun) he could give us little icons next to our avatars to show who had registered. Mostly though I just want some way of 'saving' my key in case the worst happens.

I'm not sure it would be really that good. Not everyone registers to the forums and even then, the hassle to write down the key while registering is about the same as saving your email or writing it down in some key-backup-folder so its purpose is doubtful imo.

I think a more pertinent method would be to add some box/link on the main site for key recovery, you write your email and the system sends the key attached to that email.

The icon idea would be good if the majority of the forum goers didn't have a key. But imo most people who take the time to register here have the game already, so if everyone (who is active!) ends up with an icon, it kind of beats the purpose (the purpose being bragging rights obviously)

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Need help? pm me or any other mod.

Perfect. That's what I am after. Some way, some how to register my key. Being able to send an email to my account is just as good as having it tied to my forum account. I don't really care how it is done but it is going to be useful.

It also gives Chris a good fallback for when people email him wanting their keys back.
"Did you register your key?"
"No?"
"Too bad. next time register your key."

Such a system is not that hard to make, all you need is a verifiation system which can be written in php, and then tie it to an sql database. Add some form of protection to it, like random one time use security keys in the links being sent out to the mail address and you should be set.
