Nope. It's getting annoying seeing people randomly posting in here.

Welcome back to the community, I shall call you Ala (not Alah, don't attempt to call me a muslim or suspect of anything  ) Also, evolution just ensures that you can adapt to the envoiroment and that the species can reproduce in it, not make you into a predator or herbivore ot make you more powerfull.

I don't know how to answer this. But everything alive today has evolved from something else. So all those predators and herbavores out there.....they evolved; from single celled organisms if you want to go back THAT far. So yes, evolution can make you into a predator or herbavore and can even change one into the other given enough time.

I wonder if it can change the human race into a race of worms?

It is possible but not theoretically plausible given current situations. I know you were being facetious but I will try and answer anyway because I have the whole day ahead of me.

Essentially we can't expect every family to become worms, but if situations are right in a certain isolated enough group then it is highly possible that they could diverge if left alone long enough. So the first requirement is isolation.

Second requirement would be a series of climatic and situations influences that would favour the survival and availability of sexytime of certain mutations more than the norm.

Third requirement would be that these conditions persist and gradually change to more and more favour the 'worm' thing you are imagining.

It doesn't even need to be direct evolution. Early changes could favour a more aquatic existence like rivers and lakes. This could make us more streamlined and less land based. Some people theorise that we already had a semi aquatic and swampy past which explains our relative lack of hair and slight finger and toe webbing (plus ability to swim quite effectively). From there, if there were to be changes to our lifestyle such as building tunnels into the riverbank but the entrance being underwater (like crocodiles) so that things can't easily get in to attack us without going into the water first. Those better at digging would tend to survive more and raise more children thus propogating the 'digging' gene. After that, even more streamlined bodies would be an advantage. Those that weren't could still survive but would need to use more effort to dig. If there were less food available do to some climate change then needing to eat more could be a problem and those members could die off leaving the more energy efficient ones alive to keep up the sexytime.

Taking this to its logical conclusion, we could most likely evolve into some sort of molerat people which is rather different to worms since we have a far more complicated body system and set of internal organs. It is highly unlikely that changes to our internal structure to make it more simple would be a survival advantage so this is unlikely to change. BUT: If you can think of a reason why going from an effective heart and lungs and changing into a skin breathing, chyme filled sack of meat is more efficient then you may be able to explain this for me. Otherwise, lets be happy with these ugly mole men monstrosities you have created.

Guys remember: it's a theory, not a fact, there's a difference and it has never been observed or made any tests concerning evolotion... I hope it becomes a fact thought.
