Hi there.
I recently purchased a license key for Kenshi (without even playing the demo first, I was that impressed by the trailer) but am unable to locate an .exe file which will start the game. I have tried downloading and installing several different versions but each time I click the desktop shortcut it displays an error message telling me it is "unable to locate kenshi.exe and it may have been moved/deleted." I have searched the directory created on install and all it's subfolders extensively but still cannot find something that will start up the game. I am not aware of any platform software necessary to launch Kenshi and cannot find any users having similar problems on the forums. This has led me to believe that I must be missing something painfully obvious but will need pointing in the direction of a launcher file for me to be able to play the game I just bought! In short, please help me as I am failing miserably at the first hurdle.

Running v0.29.6 on
Win 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz (64bit)
8GB RAM

Attached is a screenshot of what things look like

There are loads of files missing there, evidently the install doesn't finish properly, not sure why.

Try the Desura version, you will have to install Desura unfortunately, but if you then download the "Demo" via Desura (like Steam) it might work, because its a different install process (but will still be the same game).

In my Kenshi folder there is _core which starts the game. I didn't see it on your picture though. In my folder, there is also one named Kenshi that starts the game.

Now that I think of it... There is lots of stuff in my Kenshi folder that is not in yours. You are missing most of stuff in fact. All my stuff don't even fit on screen so I can't send you screenshot with everything.

It means that something has gone horribly wrong when downloading. All the stuff haven't come to you computer or it is hiding in a very wrong place. Where did you download the game from? Have you tried here? From lofigames.com ?

PS. Chris answered you while I was writing this. I post this anyway because... I don't know. I don't want to erase it all. All the work I've done... Wasted

Thanks for the quick replies. I am installing Desura now. Can't think where the files have disappeared to. What there is was put there by the kenshi_0.29.6.exe installer downloaded from gamefront but I have no idea why most of them failed to install.

Managed to get Kenshi running through Desura but am now facing problems with the landscape textures not loading. Can see units, buildings and cliffs okay but the sand just isn't rendering. Will return to it in the morning as I need sleep

Hey guys, sorry to revive a dead thread but I'm experiencing the same problem. Better that I post here than start a new thread, and that I'd be a little more detailed

First off, I'm on my Win7 Pro x86 lappy, with plenty of free space on my C:\

So I downloaded 'kenshi_0.29.6' from the indiedb website, and the file is 667MB in size

I run the installer, everything installs fine, it adds a shortcut to my desktop... Sweet! Then I notice that the shortcut doesn't have an icon, it's just a generic program box

Image

So I try using the shortcut. Lo and behold, nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Image

So I open my Kenshi folder, and this is all I see

Trying to uninstall the game looks like this...

I've tried re-downloading the file numerous times, and nothing has helped so far. I'm downloading the tester's version (0.39) as I type this up, so hopefully I can get that to work

There's a lot of files missing. Your installation seems to fail to install everything needed. Try installing using right click and run as admin.

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Need help? pm me or any other mod.
