not really a problem (at least right now) since you could just building another wall around this compound.

or you could make many small outposts.

Hey when you see my plateau you'll know there's no small outposts accompanying that.

The trick is to make the plateau your acropolis/keep while the lower down area can be the general town sprawl area. Only keep the essentials up top that you need to survive a siege. Things like the armoury and food production and some wells and power sources and a basic hospital. Living quarters and anything else can and should be built further away where defense isn't the highest concern.

All these pictures look so good but I don't have time to test the new patches myself. :( Hope you're having fun.

An 'estate' rather than a base. Very nice and extra classy choice of noun. Pity you appear to be running into the squad cap limit shortly. Can't wait for a graphical interface update. Squads seem like the next logical step for chris to work on.

I was gonna finish my first layer of wall tonight, but walls seem to have been removed from the build list .

Any chance you could specify a bit more? My attempts at finding it have been fruitless so far. :P

Hmm that seems odd. I don't seem to be able to build those outposts and don't have any research projects left...

Outposts are not in the latest build, neither are walls. They were in a few patches back though, and thats when those were built.

Ya, really miss the outpost buildings. Hope they come back in the next patch. And maybe turn the wells into moisture collectors so I can make my settlement look like it's on Tatooine. :)

Try number 2

All my men got stuck on the walls,so I had to go back to a previous stored save, and redo most of the estate. On the positive side, the walls came out much nicer this time around.

Won't bandits just spawn inside the walls?

here's mine. i'm waiting for the import without buildings to be fixed since my save has empty cities and i need to restart and importing with buildings is a incredible mess. still, here:

i called it high peak because...well, i'm bad with names.
it's wall-less at the moment cause i can't place walls in a way that actually stop people from getting in from the sides, so they're pointless.

edit: removed until i figure out how to add it without breaking the forum shape
edit2: ok i suck at doing that i'll just post the link to it

I havent seen bandits spawn inside the walls yet.

The walls do keep bandits out UNLESS something is chasing them.If they are being chased and run at the walls, they will run right over the walls.

But each of my men can take out about 2 bandits on their own,so its not much of a worry. And since i enclosed most of the valley, theres not much space left where they can run at the walls from.

Would be a lot cooler with walls to close the two access points, but still a very cool location: http://imgur.com/a/k6RHo#0

Plus there is a lot of room to potentially expand, once we can build wall ramps.

That is a REALLY good screenshot you took there.
