Although I agree with you I must point out that this is a false argument. A state of being is not proof for something else existing. If anything, the reverse is also true. This also isn't being denied by 'creationists' (at least not the ones who actually try to use some science in their arguments). What is being denied is the relation to ourselves via an unbroken line of descent.
In the end the best way to debate evolution is to understand it very thoroughly in all its forms and nuances. Also, I'm not sure if you realise that Mr Old Man Liver is taking a very tongue in cheek approach to this 'debate'.
