Maybe the past 10 years of consoles devolving game complexity has caused my brain to shrink but Kenshi is a bit overwhelming for a first timer. I just spent 30 or so minutes trying to figure out the basics but I'm not sure where to begin. What to do. How to do things I want to do.
So, my question is: Where would I find an indepth tutorial on all things Kenshi? Love the game so far. It feels truly epic.
Where to find a Kenshi Tutorial
This is a good place to find answers actually. A lot of questions have been asked in past threads, and everyone here is friendly so feel free to ask questions of your own.
There are vids on youtube. I'm sure a search will turn something up.
Personally I've always started by finding groups of bandits and training them to guards, then taking pot shots at them while they are busy fighting. Loot them, sell their stuff, hire more dudes.. the rest is up to you really. Depends on what you wanna do and how you wanna play. Another way to make good money is keeping an eye out on the info panel of certain enemies. Some will have a bounty on their heads. If you find one pick him up after he's been defeated and run him to the nearest police station, that is where you collect the bounty.

There is also a wiki, however it needs some serious updating.
kenshi.wikia.com
However, there is an in-game tutorial if you click on the help button in game. Also check the news section on the lofigames homepage and scour the updates articles - that'll give you an idea of current features and things that you can do.

Basically what he said above. Try luring bandits to the town guards and then try getting a few hits in and scavenge afterwards. You'll grow in skill and money. Use that money to hire more characters and at some point, you'll just know you are up for a "solo" skirmish with bandits (try keeping a medic far from the battle in case you need to heal everyone).Atropo wrote: snip
The bounties are on the bandit leaders, with time you'll see them without needing to click on the info panel, they are geared differently. NInja jounin also have a bounty and are lone warriors but hard to down (all skills are around 30 or so).
Also use "space" to pause the game to issue orders, it will help with not getting overwhelmed (at least for a new player)
You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.
Need help? pm me or any other mod.
If you feel luring guards is too cheesy, you can just get beat up over and over until your skills improve. To do this you need at least a 2 man crew, where one stays way back, and comes in after they leave to heal the combatant. This works especially well if you use defensive mode at first, as you can raise your defense skill very very fast.
Hmm, I walked with the Caravans but they do not pay anything other than a (somewhat rare) chance to level combat skills. I also noticed this does not change my status with the Trade Caravans.
Currently got a small settlement going that's producing some rum. Got a shop counter up but I'm not sure if it's working as no one has come near enough to stop in and purchase anything. Is this implemented yet?
