Is it possible to kill NPCs that aren't bandits? I've been trying to kill a group of soldiers for the last 10 minutes or so, but they never seem to reach the DEAD state no matter how many times I knock them over.

Yeah you can, I've killed some of those traders before for sure.

Shop guards seem to always come back to life eventually. I've camped eyesocket for hours and no matter how much I beat them down, they always get back up eventually!

I think that's the case with the patrolling soldier groups as well. No matter how many times I cut them up, they just heal perpetually instead of dying. I assume in future releases, it will be possible to kill pretty much anyone.

EDIT: After knocking them over about five times, they don't seem to be getting up anymore. However, they're not dying either, so I guess they just sit there until a friendly NPC wanders by and uses a medkit.

Now be careful with all that you know. You can always reset the game world, but you can NOT reset the factions. So if you get KOS(Kill On Sight) to a city you like to enter, you can't just reset the game world and fix it.

**** RANT*****Sure I guess you could always cheat and mod the game and work around this. But then again, that kind of defeats the whole thing. I mean, the grind of a point here and there is what makes the game have replay-ability. Sure, I could make a fast mod and give all my guess 100 stats and a billion dollars.. and THEN what do you do? With nothing to shoot for, no goal, the game gets boring fast. It would be almost like starting a game of chess with someone, then just knocking all their pieces off the board during the first move of the game, and be like, I WIN! (although that does sound hilarious...but short lived).

Ow i Started with the war veteran i can kill holy empire npc's :D .

Not really kill em but knock em down and then steal there goodies  .
i dont thing ive seen em dead. just knocked down but then yeah they are with many healing eachother so not much bleeding.
Highest ive seen bleed go was 10, and that enemy bled dry in seconds :?

Idd modding it that much would ruin it kinda.
Hmm i only modded more enemy spawns and some cb thingies like more people that can attack the same target but reducing the damage multiplier.
Coz i dont like 10 people trying to hit the same target but waiting in line to do so, while the enemy hits 5 of mine, coz they are waiting in line. ;)

Faction status is not really an issue given that you can just kite one man from the faction that hates you into groups of bandits, get him killed, heal, repeat until the faction is neutral with you again.

Gamerphate derail much?

I'm pretty sure NPCs die when their bloodlevel is the negative of their maximum. Using katanas should be helpful in doing so. My sadist 3rd char has 50 katana skill and seems to avoid vital body parts... getting the bleeding above 10 before the enemies collapse from bloodloss seems to be a cake of piece to him.

I've killed many bandits and Holy Empire soldiers, usually because the person in question bleeds out.
Enemies will naturally heal, just like you, and if they're bandaged they'll be able to get up again.

The same difficulty dying hold true for your units as well. I've kept track of how many times one of my units has been down. He's been down 17 times, but he's not dead because I'm always able to patch him up or he's just barely down (not bleeding and chest or head at only -3 or something similar).

I imagine that once severing limbs is implemented it will become easier to make enemies bleed out.

No... Not derailed at all.. All info was related to the OP and comments, so no need to flame over nothing.

Seems funny. I'm mad because I keep getting stuck in negative hit points on my character in my one man army. It heals for a while, and then stops, and I hate it. Is there a fix, or should I just reset?

condog, that sounds like a bug. First, check to see if new game import fixes the problem; regardless if it does or not - if it doesn't, well, you're SOL - you should let Chris know about it.

In the future try to avoid being a one man army, it's easy enough to hire a squad-mate in the first tavern of the first town. If you have to sell your starting sword, on a new game, I often sell -his- starting sword too and hire the next available potential squadmember I see. We'll find bandit corpses to loot soon enough, heh.

I think that both the players and NPC units have a set amount of blood, higher level units will have more blood, although it seems to be an average of a number of statistics and I personally have never seen my own units with more than 90 some-odd blood. I think it takes - your number of maximum blood to bleed out. I imagine 100 is a cap, when you have a plethora of stats at 100. Someone else who has actually gotten characters to 100 strength and athletics may know more about the cap.

Thanks for giving me a heads up. I created a 'Veteran' new game, thus repairing my problem, and in the realization of the fact that keeping one character extra would be handy, did so immediately, and pillaged some Merchants because they have good shortswords and mail, thus returning me to above my previous status, as wealth is easily gained. I tried the debug loaders, and it didn't work. This would be the second time this has happened, the first time I put the same character down and he fell through the map, but didn't die. I think it would be for the best if I give thanks for giving me some hasty responses,

Much appreciated,
Condog

In the very rare instances you fall through the map and haven't recently saved, you could likely save and then import squad (reset position only). I myself have played a half a dozen different games, and each time I learn something new and have more fun than I did previously. Admittedly, I have done so over the course of the last year, rather than at the behest of bugs. I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.
