Any Suggestions for a new player? I always start off with the freedom seekers. I like to get right into the building. But i always run into bandit problems.

Hey and welcome to Kenshi
That is my favorite group to start with too because you can get right into the city building phase and already have a few people to start training too.
Now as you noticed, this is one of the harder ones to start with in the sense that many of your guys will be loaded down with supplies making them VERY slow. What you have to somehow pull off is getting your group to near Brink. Usually you start near there, and if you can just make it inside that city you can get going. If you get attacked as long as no one dies and someone can escape to scoop up the fallen men to take them to the town to heal, you can move ahead.
Idealistically you won't run into enemies along the way, BUT I rarely see that be the case. Now you probably have old soldier, he is really strong for a starter guy, so use him for the main combat and perhaps have your others guys go on defensive to try to survive long enough for Old Soldier to cut down the attackers one by one.
But once you make it to Brink, hopefully with everyone still alive, wounded is okay. It is very easy to build a town just outside of Brink and get started. This allows you two things. First if things get hairy you can always run to the guards in the NPC town to sort things out for you. And ultimately, it is so you have a place to sell all the stuff you find, farm, or manufacture. This system within a couple days of playing will have you building up a mega town that can basically make all the main things.
In my version, I have a hemp field with loom near it, all near water so there is no slowdown to keep the system running, another area with 2 mines and a storage building so that I could almost just AFK create building materials without much micromanaging for me. Also, currently it seems RUM is the way to go! So of course I have a large house with stills all in it so I can focus on that too.
Don't forget to pick a guy to be your research guy, and start training up the tech tree. Then when you unlock the teir 2 research table make sure to use it ONCE, nothing will appear to happen when you do, but it is required you do all that to continue the tree. Get training dummies and then the Tech 2 version of them unlocked, and have a building with those to train all your guys up a bit. Usually about 9 in attack is about where they don't seem to get any more gain.
At this point, the key is to make sure no one dies and that you keep bandages in stock from the towns so you can keep everyone alive. And you will want a house with just beds so people can rest after being bandaged or knocked out. Every battle you don't lose a guy is a win, even if everyone gets knocked out but one guy. You get stronger and stronger each time.
At this point you will start to be able to handle the world a bit and want to start going to each town and getting new people in your team. The more guys you have the more money you make, and the stronger your army becomes.
Hope all this helps, ask any questions and we will help you out. Hope this helps you enjoy the game.

I've gotten the research bench 2, and done all the available research in the tech menu, Do i need to do anything to unlock more research? I've got my fabric looms built and whatnot, but i can't seem to do anything with the product made by them, except sell it.

Well, the new update should allow for weaponsmithing, that should help fill the time until walls are implemented again, and after that you should be able to do something with all of that cloth. It might not be a bad idea to hold onto quite a bit of that cloth, since you'll likely be wandering around naked once the new models and such are implemented.

One last question, if i recruit someone from a tavern, can i go back to the same tavern some time later and another person might be there?

No, but there is often two people per town, sometimes more. That should be enough people to hire until much, much later (I'm doing more than excellent at 17 people).darklazer32 wrote:One last question, if i recruit someone from a tavern, can i go back to the same tavern some time later and another person might be there?
In addition, if you see a recruit named "Infinite Wingwang", he'll initially ask for a ridiculous amount of money, but you can haggle him down pretty darn far. 5000, I think. He's fairly worth it.

Not implemented. Next time you start up the game, look at the version number.darklazer32 wrote:i lied when i said last question, me and a buddy are playing and we've noticed that nobody ever comes and buys anything from our store counters (and we have lots of goods in them) and we can't trade with the trade carivans either. whats up with this?

Can't wait for the next updates!

I think you can control only 20 of them - at this time, the last row is at the bottom of the character screen area you can only see the top of their portrait icon. But you can still select them pretty easy. I've gotten 3 on the 3rd row down so far.

I can't help it. I always rename him some like Huge Jerk because that's what he is.SirChuckles wrote:No, but there is often two people per town, sometimes more. There are also other recruits that offer their services for 5000. I found two today in the same tavern with straight 15 in all stats except field medic and the building stuff.SirChuckles wrote:In addition, if you see a recruit named "Infinite Wingwang", he'll initially ask for a ridiculous amount of money, but you can haggle him down pretty darn far. 5000, I think.
